New metal albums

in Music2 years ago

Hello folks, here's a pending post of mine regarding new additions to my metal music collection and now it's the time to present part of the items I've received. I wanted to do this sooner but due to work I'm lacking the patience to sit down and take the time needed to make a post.
This post, according to my last one, was supposed to regard just cassette tapes but since I've received cd albums as well I'm going to include them too here and leave out the cassettes that I have but haven't listened to them yet.

I shall start from the cassette album I got just today and it's from In Flames and their latest album under the title Foregone.

This album has been heavily influenced by the pandemic isolation that had been placed upon us and has also received very good reviews compared to their later albums, next year the band will be 30 years in the music industry.

Next up is Paradise Lost with a live recording that was originally released in 2011 under the title Draconian Times MMXI.

This live performance has been based on their Draconian Times studio album (1995) and it contains six more songs taken from their discography until then. It's the second live album that I own from Paradise Lost and both of them are a great listen.

Next up is an album from Drudkh that I have had the intention to get and I've happily got it. It was originally released in 2010 and I got the reissue from last year. It's titled Handful Of Stars in english.

I'm not very familiar with their discography and also I have listened to their latest work that got released last year but wasn't happy all that much. This might change though, I do change my mind, so I shall see how it goes with that.

Drudkh is a Ukrainian black metal band. Their lyrics and artistic themes embrace Slavic mythology and Ukrainian nationalism. Many of the band's lyrics are derived from the works of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Ukrainian poets (Oleksandr Oles, Oleh Olzhych, Maik Yohansen, etc.) and especially Taras Shevchenko.

Next one is a not so metal album but the band is respected among the metal circles. The band is Lake Of Tears and the album at hand is called Forever Autumn.

I remember from somewhere having seen the front cover but had never dived into the music. I think that the front image somehow prevented me back in the day to open this book, desiring really the harsher side of music. How wrong have I been.

I got in touch with this album by following a label that announced they would re-release it last year in agreement with the only one left in the ramparts of Lake Of Tears, Daniel Brennare. It was originally released in 1999 and I got the 2022 limited edition reissued and remastered cassette together with the limited edition reissue and remastered digipak cd shown below.

Lake of Tears is a Swedish heavy metal band originally formed in 1994, generally considered to play gothic metal/gothic rock and doom metal. However, their sound has expanded to include psychedelic rock and progressive rock elements.

Next one is again a cd album by another great artist and musician Mick Moss and his band Antimatter. The album is the latest album release last year under the title A Profusion Of Thought.

This band was

originally formed in the late 1990s by Duncan Patterson, the former bassist and songwriter of ANATHEMA, this artistic outlet has long been the solo project of Mick Moss, who picked up the pieces when Patterson left the band in 2004.

This album includes ten songs that they're

previously unheard, unrecorded songs from the writing sessions for Leaving Eden, Planetary Confinement, Black Market Enlightenment, The Judas Table, Fear of a Unique Identity and Lights Out.

The musical atmosphere is melancholic and he's incorporating progressive electro elements in the rock direction. I keep in touch with his music because his songs all come from his personal experiences and struggles.

Moving on, next album from Wolfheart and their latest release from last year King Of The North.

This band originates from my favorite metal country Finland and has been started from the multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Tuomas Saukkonen. The band is calling their music as winter metal and Tuomas as I understand uses his music as a gateway from his own struggles. Also from their previous album they have recruited a Greek guitarist in the band and in this album he's sharing vocals in one track. Nothing new to him by the way, since he has his own band where he's the main vocalist.

I'll finish off with the latest album from the band 1914 and the album Where Fear And Weapons Meet, which was released in 2021.

The band originates from Ukraine and the name of their band as well the whole concept concerns with themes of WWI. They were formed in 2014, one hundred years after World War I began.

I have a few more items I've excluded for now, I'll certainly make another post in due time.
Thank you for having a look for now, best wishes from me.
