The year 1967 was pivotal in the history of music. At that time, the psychedelic movement was at its peak, with bands like The Beatles and The Doors exploring new sounds and themes.
The Rolling Stones, always willing to innovate, were not left behind and joined this wave of experimentation with their album “Between the Buttons”.
This work is distinguished by the inclusion of psychedelic elements, such as the use of sitar sounds, studio effects and more abstract and surrealistic lyrics.
Songs like “Ruby Tuesday” are a clear reflection of this trend. The lyrics deal with themes such as love, loss, sexuality and youthful rebellion, although a darker and more mysterious component is also perceived in some of the tracks.

The album was produced by Andrew Loog Oldham, who had already collaborated with the Stones in previous works. Oldham sought a more elaborate and experimental sound, with the aim of capturing the changes that the band was experiencing at the time.
Among the most outstanding songs on “Between the Buttons” are: “Ruby Tuesday”, a soft and melancholic ballad that became one of the Stones' greatest hits; “Connection”, which features a more psychedelic sound and enigmatic lyrics; and “Let's Spend the Night Together”, a sensual and provocative rock and roll that generated controversy at the time.
“Between the Buttons” is the Rolling Stones' fifth studio album, released in January 1967. This work represents a crucial transition in the band's career, marking a move away from the more raw, bluesy sound of their early albums towards a more experimental and psychedelic approach, influenced by the music scene of the time.
Although at the time it did not receive the same critical acclaim as other albums by the band, over time it has acquired cult status and is considered one of the Rolling Stones' most important albums. Its influence can be heard in the music of numerous artists who came after.
