According to Bowie, this song was directly inspired by a kiss he witnessed next to the Berlin Wall. The song is about two lovers, one from East Berlin and one from West Berlin, dreaming of freedom.
I never knew that about this song, makes sense, great song, an absolute classic..
Savatage were new to me, enjoyed that tune now I must say, I'll have to check out the album..
Video game music is given jazz versions a surprisingly amount of the time. I'm not sure exactly why this is. Jazz is pretty popular in Japan and most console video games come from Japan, so that could be a reason. Whatever the reason may be, I love jazz and my son loves listening to video game music, so it's a good combination for us.
More interesting knowledge and cool that you and your son can both appreciate the same music for different reasons.
I've gotta go with Bowie. Just classic. It's crazy how many times that song has been covered too. Like you never would have guessed, but it kind of feels like everyone has done it at some point!
Great tunes! Savatage was the founding force behind Trans Siberian Orchestra, too. That's where TSO's big hit "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo" came from, too. Love seeing someone else enjoying them!
These are all unfamiliar to me, i'm happy to discover new song that our of my preferred genre. But, the second song is what caught my attention the most, or rather my ears, haha. I love it, it isnmy kind of music actually ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
These days it's not really my kind of music either. I prefer a softer sound. But there is something about the track and album that really does it for me.
Heroes I adore. It's the song I wake up most with in my head, randomly! I went and saw the latest Bowie doco, the same doco maker that did the Cobain one, Montage of Heck. Loved it. We saw it at the cinema so it was LOUD a.f.
The second one was a bit guitar hero for me - not my thing. I really liked the last track though, the Japanese one, though it was a bit crazy jazz improv for my usual liking it gelled with me today. Thanks for sharing.
Haha yeah, acid jazz is pretty nuts. I don't go for it often, but I always liked that track. Same for the metal tune. Something about it just hits be the right way. I'm not surprised you like Bowie the best 😃 It's such a great song.

I figured most people would like that the most, which is very understandable given how great it is.

I definitely enjoy them. Big fan!

I love the Chrono Trigger ost, it is epic 😍
Absolutely! The OST still hasn't been topped, but all the various jazz albums based on it do add some interest.
