New album 'Amnesia' by band Pusto

This album came together gradually through a lot of studio experimentation, where we played around with various sounds and instruments, without limiting ourselves to any one genre. Still, we aimed to preserve that dreamy, nostalgic vibe rooted in post-punk influences. It opens with our earlier singles “Pod Krylom” and “Zima”, which we chose to include because they felt essential to the overall narrative. The final track is a fully instrumental piece crafted by our producer and keyboardist, Evaldas.

Each band member comes from a different musical background - ranging from folk and electronic to metal - which definitely left its mark on the album’s specific sound. For instance, the track “Bezdna” features a button accordion - initially recorded as a playful experiment. You’ll also hear touches of folk-inspired vocals throughout, and an electric sitar makes an appearance in “Check Mate.” The songs are performed in three languages - English, Ukrainian, and Russian - which reflect the layered nature of Masha's immigrant experience.

The album has a lot to do with themes like losing the idea of home both in a material and psychological sense, living with the fact that there is a war in Masha’s home country Ukraine, dealing with the corrupt state of the world and dealing with the complexities of the human psyche and its shadow. With every song you will get to experience a slightly different sound but overall the same energy, full of nostalgic melancholia but with a bit of hope.

The album’s name and full story should be open for the listeners interpretation however and each member of the band has their own personal relationship to it. It’s best to just read the lyrics and try to feel the music,the story is all there.
