# Part One: The Vocals...

If you haven't heard Lady Gaga's new single, ‘Disease’, you've got two options.... Either you listen to it right here, it will be available somewhere in this post, or you head over to your favourite streaming service and listen to it. We recommend you do it with headphones. There are some details that can only be perceived with the use of these devices. And something happens to me when I hear that song.... I know it's made to be a hit, a mega hit. Everything in its composition tells me so, tells me so, but at the same time I can't help but pay attention to what makes this single powerful: Lady Gaga's vocal harmonies.

This woman, artist, singer, composer, musician-pianist, arranger, actress and dancer, has decided to let Gaga out and lock Lady in (for the moment). ‘Disease’ is an opera at its darkest. The influences of the industrial genre within the songwriting itself are undeniable. From the reverb with the tone marked in B major, and the entrance of the vocals are soft distortion, you can appreciate the strength that this track is going to have. I also can't help but notice that Gaga has always been known for her wide vocal range. However, in ‘Disease’, what we hear is a return to her ‘Artpop’ period, to the glorious years of 2013, 2014...

# Part Two: Nostalgia, yes, Dark Pop? Oh yeah...

During this phase, within her long awaited new album, entitled ‘LG7’ (rumours abound...) Gaga, has let us see with this single that her thing is songs full of power and those strong tones between the notalgia that brings back memories of Bad Romance, that is, she reminds us of Lady but that for no reason abandons Gaga; the evil, powerful, dark, necessary alter ego that makes her music, her way of making Pop so exquisitely addictive. To the point, that many may or may not like the music made by the Mother Monster but respect her as an artist and musician in general.

At the time of writing, the reception to Disease has not only been extremely positive, but critics place Gaga at a stage of consolidating her sound as a performer and musician. In fact, the hype is so great that two more versions of the same single are available on her YouTube channel, but in semi-acoustic format. Similar to what MTV used to do with their Unplugged... Honestly, this song is much more than just a single. It's the opener for what promises to be an impressive album.

Speaking personally, I've listened to the track multiple times. Including the two bonus tracks, and it's getting easier and easier to convince me that this girl is using the industry to massify herself and reach more people but in no way is she an untalented or disposable product.I get the impression that Lady Gaga is an artist in every sense of the word.Similar to what every human being who heard Jais Joplin or Amy Winehouse sing live must have felt. She is an artist who has chosen Pop as her bastion but who is not only Pop.‘Disease’ is an ode to the genres of music.
It is rock, but undoubtedly also contains extracts in its sound of industrial and heavy electronic music, and the harmonies of someone who could compose poetry on the river Seine on an autumn afternoon. Believe me, there is so little of Lady and so much of Gaga that it gives me goose bumps. It thrills me.

I agree with you! She really in an artist in every sense of the word! I am not the biggest Lady Gaga fan, although I do like her music and think she's an awesome musician

Me too. My taste in music goes to other genres but I can't help myself singing loud because of her and her songs. Including, of course, this one, "Disease"
