My Actifit Report Card: April 17 2024

in Actifit7 months ago

It was a sunny and quite mild day that was perfect for a fun hike through Granite Basin with Lulu. Plenty of birds, wildflowers and even another person hiking with her dogs to make this a nice day.

After we had completed our morning two miles I figured it would be nice to spend some time over at the Willow Creek Lake dog park as we hadn't been there for some time.
Lulu rushed over to the entrance steps, barking like crazy to let everyone know she was there, and then running around with a bunch of her doggy friends.

I did walk a couple of easy loops around the perimeter of the park but mostly it was fun time for Lulu.
Granite Basin is just about 6 miles away from our RV so it was a quick drive over to the lake parking area from where we began our hike.

There's a nice network of trails of varying difficulty but they are all well marked and easy to follow (plus I've hiked the area many times). Lulu managed to spot a couple of squirrels along the way but I kept her walking along. Otherwise, she strode out ahead of me as the trail wound along under the tall pines.

While Prescott was enjoying warm Spring weather there was still a coating of snow high in the mountains and the melting pack was enough to provide a little bit of flow in the small wash running towards the lake. No doubt a blessing for the wild animals, and Lulu was happy to take a sip.

A couple more miles as the trail became a bot more rocky and rugged as it climbed upwards along the hillside but it wasn't too difficult and before long ot looped back around and brought us back down to Granite Basin Lake where my tired doggy got to wade in and cool off before enjoying an "oh so wonderful " roll on the grass to wrap up the hike.
