My Actifit Report Card: January 23 2025

in Actifit11 hours ago

As you can see in the photo, I went shopping to one of the local Lidl discount stores (we have two).
I got there and back on foot.
I don't usually do a "formal" workout as part of my Actifit report routine.
What I normally do is walk between five and six thousand steps.
Walking is generally a low-impact exercise, and that is the reason why it is often overlooked by many fitness enthusiasts.
It is perfect for me though.
You can walk literally anywhere and at any time.
You don't need any special equipment, just to persuade yourself to get moving.
Once you start moving, the so-called "feel-good" hormones start filling your body.
The more you walk, the more you want to walk.
Finally, a question for those who think that walking is an easy task.
Do you think it is easy to walk 2,500 steps mostly uphill, while carrying a shopping bag that weighs 10 Kg, on your way back home from the supermarket?
Because, you know what it's like when you go shopping.
You've got your list and you know exactly what you are going to buy.
In the end, you buy more things than you need, spending more money than you expected and planned in the first place.
Or, you may buy less than you actually need, and keep coming again for one or two items.
Recently, Lidl has faced some serious competition from other discount stores and supermarket chains.
It's now questionable whether Lidl continues to hold the informal title of cost leader in the grocery market.
I have yet to visit a supermarket that is superior to others at both quality and price.
You can find products sold at any supermarket that are really crap.
You wouldn't want those products even if they were free.
I think it might have something to do with the product or price mix of supermarkets.
This means that they mix a high price and quality product with a low price and quality one.
In this way, a consumer can get an average price and quality overall, which he or she is happy to pay.
They try to make the customer stay and spend in their stores as much as possible.
The thing is that there will always be (or should be) a competitor selling a better product at a lower price.
A customer, however, may not be aware of that.
Even if he or she knows that, he or she may not be willing to get to another supermarket just to buy one thing.
