Rest is not a Luxury, it's a Necessity

Like the gym, and honestly, every other thing in life, rest days are really important. One of the gyms I use closed for the year, the other started renovating and also shut down, leaving just one. I was happy at first, but maybe it was a sign to slow down a bit. Lately, I've noticed I've been getting really exhausted, and my sessions have felt laboured. That's when I realised I might need some time to rest and deload.

Here's the thing: like me, when vwe run our usual split, individual muscle groups get time to recover, but the body as a whole never really does. For most of the year, I've been on a three- day split; Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays; upper, lower, and full body. On paper, there's rest between sessions. But even though muscle groups alternate and recover, my entire body is still being drilled constantly, and that builds up fatigue.I realised I feel sore and tired almost every day of the week. That reminded me of something Dr. Mike always talks about. It's important to take rest periods, not just rest days, with the goal of bringing total system fatigue as close to zero as possible. I might be forced to rest at this point, but I honestly don't think I can do nothing. I'll probably still play football. I can't stay completely inactive.

Anyway, here's my thought for you guys: listen to your body. Rest. Recover. Then go again. Stopping or giving up isn't an option, but resting is a necessity. Thanks for reading. Til time Happy Holidays

Amen to that. Goes for more than exercise, that's sound advice for life.
