The first Sunday of the year started crisp and cold, just below freezing, but dry enough for a bike ride to Volkspark Jungfernheide. After cycling there, I kicked off the day with a refreshing morning walk. By the lake, with the water tower in view, I settled into meditation and breathing exercises, grounding myself in the stillness. On my way to the sculpture garden, though, plans hit a snag, a tree, toppled overnight, had blocked the bridge. As the photo shows, it wasn’t entirely impassable; climbing through the branches brought me across. At the garden, I stumbled upon a whimsical hippo sculpture with a stick in his snout like a dog, which I thought I’d share with you. The day wrapped up perfectly as snow began to fall, a quiet sunday spent cozy on the couch, a peaceful end to a brisk start.
