I can relate to your preference of practice over theory. Although I was rather studious in my childhood years, I have grown to prefer 'street smarts' myself - which is kinda the same thing I reckon. To become street-wize is to have experienced life and learned to adapt (i.e. to have practiced). I love reading, though, so i agree that some placed in the middle sounds pretty cool too.
