A chilly walk with friends: November 22 2024

in Actifit2 months ago

We had our first snow storm of the season yesterday. It was a mess. Many accidents on the roads! True to form with the first real snow of the season, it all melted today. But the chilly weather stayed — just not so cold that snow and ice would stick around.

Two of my best friends and I went out walking on a trail. We chose a nice dry paved path, since the gravel and unpaved trails can turn to mush after a storm.

We managed to get a woman walking her dog to pause and take our picture, which was very kind of her.

This time of year is funny. I’m always surprised that it takes the ducks so long to decide it’s time to fly south. The geese have already made the journey.

We tracked our route on the trail and it was a little over four miles. The three of us have girls who have been friends since middle school and are now in their 20s, so we always have plenty to talk about!

It was a great way to get some exercise on a chilly gray day.

Thank you for reading!

Nice report, lovely picture & what a day 😄. I hope the accidents were not much. Did anybody die?

Yes I'm afraid so. There was one fatality due to the accidents in the storm.

If Minnesota is anything like here, usually the first snow no one knows how to drive so many accidents!🙄
Nice four mile hiking trail, and with life long friends extra nice!👍😊

Yeah, everyone has to relearn how to navigate snow. Plus they need to be reminded that tires wear out and need to be replaced!

Absolutely correct!😇
Putting the snow tires on our car is on my “to do list” coming up very soon 😊

We've had our first wintry weather here, too. For some reason, I decided the freezing night was the time to get lost in the wilds of North London when the underground station close to work was closed. I was daydreaming until I saw a sign for the North Circular Road, rather than one saying Central London. It was a thirty-five minute wait to take the same (cold) bus back to civilisation, which was the first underground station we came to 🤣
