It's really difficult to lose a pet who has been around a long time and you've formed an attachment with. It was hard for my husband to do the cows and pigs at butchering time, as they had been around from 6 months to 2 years.

When my old cat went in Sept 2022 she was 21 1/2 and had been failing for a while. But when the quality of life ceased, I had her put down so she wouldn't suffer. Not cheap, but I'd seen far too much suffering recently.
