My homage to our frail and not long for this world cat. He's older than our kids. This is a lot harder than I thought it would be. It's one thing when it's a farm animal but he has been a constant presence in the house all this time, 14 years. We've been at constant odds most this time but now I'm on cat hospice and this just fucking sucks. I'm not liking how he looks tonight and can't stop crying. Just loving on him and keeping him as comfortable as possible. It may be tonight or it could be days from now i don't know but he will be in a safe and comfortable space to transition.

It's really difficult to lose a pet who has been around a long time and you've formed an attachment with. It was hard for my husband to do the cows and pigs at butchering time, as they had been around from 6 months to 2 years.
When my old cat went in Sept 2022 she was 21 1/2 and had been failing for a while. But when the quality of life ceased, I had her put down so she wouldn't suffer. Not cheap, but I'd seen far too much suffering recently.
