Yesterday was a salsa day!
Just like many Saturdays, my friend and I got up in the morning and left our city at around 11:30am to get to the salsa party in central London that starts at 2:30pm in YMCA.
When it comes to the local evening parties, we like to show up fashionably late for a few reasons. Mainly because the dancefloor is less busy after most of the beginners who came for the classes are gone by then and with a bit of luck we can also find a parking space closer to the venue.
When it comes to the daytime party in London, it’s quite the opposite. We aim to arrive there at the very beginning of the party, as the venue is nice and cool and lots of space to dance and warm up for when more dancers arrive (fashionably late).
Despite the air conditioning and many fans, the temperature rises to almost unbearable in the second part of the party, hence why we like to be there early to acclimatise to the rising heat.
Our strategy of leaving early makes total sense though. Sometimes traffic is very heavy, adding time sons.
There are however times when we arrive much earlier. Those days we exit the tube one or two stops earlier and explore London.
We might stop at cute little shops to browse or buy some cute figurines like in this Chinese boutique in China town. Also more time to stop and take a picture or two for my hive blogs, soak the always busy London atmosphere and not to mention the extra steps for my somewhat rare Actifit reports.
Coming back from the party at around 6:30pm is already dark around at this time of the year, but it sure makes some buildings look very special. Like this Harry Potter place than I never visited apart from walking past it to every Saturday afternoon party 😉
Anyway, the days are now getting longer day by day, which positively influences my mood. Going to work in the darkness and coming back also in the darkness is really no fun!
