In calories thinking it is not worth the calories. However, most people are not going to go completely without certain things they love. It is better for those to find the balance of things they enjoy. So an occasional day of I'm going to have a donut, cake, cookie, or brownie. You can still have and work into your diet.
If you do not eat the foods you enjoy and learn how to make them work, most likely in the longer term a diet will not work. This is why most diets fail. People go on harsh diets eating foods they do not enjoy without allowing themselves to occasionally have a treat.
Most days I will say my foods are very strict in eating however last night I still had half a giant blueberry muffin. This morning the other half will also be my breakfast, with my coffee.
Cheat days and cheat meals are important not just for mental well being, but to keep your body from adapting too easily to your diet.
I was talking about more like when I'm looking for something to eat. I'm like "I could drink that hot chocolate, but what a waste of calories. I could have a coffee and an apple instead and be more satisfied for less calories.
