Goat Whisperer……….My Actifit Report Card: January 12 2025

GOAT whisperer? What?! More on this in a moment. But, first……..

Our day began at church. I know I say this every Sunday; the worship was awesome as was the sermon! It’s true! We really enjoy it! 😇

Once home, we both had some things to do, but decided to head out for a hike mid afternoon. Jan and I went as far as the lumber mill up near the off grid cabin. Then we started exploring for some ‘shrooms while @silvertop continued up to the cabin. I’ve not hiked much over the past few months due to my own hip issues and I need to rebuild. Here’s some of what I found! Enjoy!

Going back to the goat whisperer……..

Shortly after coming back down when we hit pavement again; there’s a small home back in the trees that has 3 goats. Just as we passed by the driveway, we were joined by a goat that took an immediate shine to me. Maybe he could tell I’m a goat person as I used to have a goat I bottle raised who was my baby. Anyway, he pretty much ignored @silvertop and Jan, but would follow me wherever I went. So I went back down their muddy driveway, trying to figure out how to get him back in with the other 2 goats inside a pen with apparently no gate! We tried to block him in with a table, but he got around it and ran to the street to catch up with me! So much for the get away! 🙃

I called our neighbors Kurt and Alma, as they were close and since they have goats, maybe we could catch him and tie him where the owners, who were not home, could see. We all herded him back and I was his human of choice again. We managed to corner him under the deck, but in the long run, that wasn’t going to work anyway! Since Kurt had brought a truck along, the plan was for him to run interference until we could get away. Then he’d jump in the truck and get away.

It worked! We still watched for him though, as we could have been close enough for him to catch up if he ran. Here’s my little goat friend!

Closer to home, I spied these little guys so perfect a specimen, that I thought they were porcelain, lol!

Pretty cool!

Well, that’s the adventure for today we didn’t know we were going to have. Take care everybody and enjoy the week ahead! 🙏🌎🙏
