THE IGBO SPEAKING COMMUNITIES OF SOUTHEAST NIGERIA ORIGIN

When and where the Igbo came into their present territory is not known. Their origin is a subject of much spectaculatio n , they have no common tradition of origin , it is only rather recently that some Igbo speaking communities have ceased to claim that they are not Igbo. The local traditions the Igbo have do not provide clues for their origin

They are located in south east Nigeria, they occupy an area of almost 15,800 square miles .
The river Nigeria divides the Igbo county into two parts, the greater portion lies in what is now called the eastern region of Nigeria, while the small triangular portion _ west of the Niger is part of Nigerian fourth .the mid west region.
The western Igbo are territorially marked from Bennin and Warri their non Igbo neighborhood on the left bank of the Niger the eastern stretch from the Niger Delta were the Ijaw and Ogoni are their southern neighbors.

To the north where the Igala and Tiv mark the boundary.
On the eastern boundary are the Yako and the Ibibio though separated by the Niger and falling in two separated political units, the western and eastern Igbo
FEATURES OF THE IGBO SPEAKING PEOPLE
The Igbo country exhibits a wide variety of physical features which rivers is one of them. There are many rivers in Igbo communities and these rivers contributes to this diversity .
The most known rivers are the River Niger, Imo river, Anambra and Urasi these rivers flow from north to south.
Four distinct areas may be distinguished _ the riverine, the Delta, the central and the north east belts.
CLIMATIC CONDITION
Igbo has a tropical climate , the average normal temperature is about 80 degree Fahrenheit with annual range of between 5 degrees and 10 degrees.the rainy and dry seasons are well marked.

The rainy season begins in April and last to October while dry season commences.
During rainy season, a break occurs in August....
