I don't know if you've heard of Courchsurfing before? I also don't know if it is appropriate to write about Couchsurfing here? If not, please forgive me. But I really want to write about it.
We went to the barber together
Couchsurfing is a platform for backpackers around the world where they can ask to stay with locals as they travel around the world. I came to Couchsurfing by accident. In 2017, I was a construction engineer like my peers. But then, an incident happened, I had an accident that caused me to quit my job and stay at home. With a passion for coffee, I decided to start a coffee shop. And one day, a Brazilian guest came in, I chatted with him and he introduced me to Couchsurfing. Since then, I've used it to host backpackers around the world because I want to travel to meet people but I can't afford it so I use Couchsurfing to bring people to me.
Couchsurfing has given me a lot. Until now, I have hosted about 300 couchsurfers from 56 different countries. Each of them taught me many things. They help me improve my English skills. They tell me about their country's culture, history, people and cuisine, which is I'm always eager to learn. One of them also inspired me a lot. A young Indian man traveled through more than 16 different countries on his bicycle. A 76-year-old Japanese couple, travel the world together after retirement. Or a French guy who has traveled the world for only 50 Euros. They all motivated me a lot. They made my life very lively. Some stayed overnight, some stayed for a few days, some even stayed with me for almost six months, some left and came back with me a few times. But I had all good time with them. I really miss that time.
Some of them attended my wedding
There are too many photos to show, they are all good memories
And then for the past year or so, I haven't hosted any more backpackers because my country has closed the border because of the covid epidemic. I hope things get better soon and I can continue to meet international friends. And of course, if you come to Vietnam, I'd love to host and guide you around.
Yay! 🤗

is the site still working? i did not check it out for ages. We hosted some people while i was in college. The idea of having local people show you the place is the best.
Yeah the site is still working, but because of the covid, not many people use it now. I hope it gets better soon.
Nice! I didn´t know you are a CS host :) I had a lot of fun and met a lot of amazing people through CS in the US back in 2010 and 2011. I tried CS in Europe a few years later but nobody wanted to host me there, even though I had many great reviews from my older stays :D :/ So instead, I started to use AirBnb since then and been quite happy with it. But good to know that CS still works! Wishing you a lot of nice new guests when the pandemic is over and the world gets back to normal :)
Hey @phortun, I had so much fun with CS. I hope everything gets better and then I can meet foreign friends soon.
Yea Anh, I just know about CS a few months ago. I was told that CS is pretty popular in Malay, India and Aus. It's not really popular in VN but I can still find many hosts when I traveled to Da Lat last year. I love it. We can learn a lot of things when staying with locals, they even cook and guide me.
Nice
