Following on from the black and white series, today I'm reliving, in color, my stay in Rio de Janeiro exactly two decades ago, in November and December 2004.
A mixture of travel exploration and work responsibility at the Instituto Benjamim Constant. These images are not touristy, they are just some notes/documents of places I had the opportunity to experience in the Marvelous City.
As I mentioned in my previous post, this stay was one of the most enriching experiences I've had. Leaving, traveling and experiencing the unknown enriches us enormously.
In this case, collaborating in the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Instituto Benjamim Constant was extremely beneficial in both professional and personal terms. There was another experience that enriched me as a human being: the opportunity to visit the Rocinha favela. A dream come true that I will share in a future publication.
Urca neighborhood
Located in the southern part of Rio de Janeiro, it is one of the most important places in Brazil's history. It was built on embankments at the beginning of the 20th century, but its history began earlier: “It served as a military base for the Portuguese and was part of the context of the countless conflicts between the Portuguese, the French and the Indians, and only took on the form we know today in 1870. At that time, a Portuguese merchant called Domingos Fernandes Pinto planned to transform the site into a new city with more artistic buildings.” According to information from the website “Parque Bondinho - Pão de Açúcar”. 👇

I would pick it as my first/openings shot of this post
Thanks a lot.
Yes, it would make a great publication entry.
Part of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Niterói, designed by Oscar Niemeyer. The building, a nave, is said to have been built at an angle parallel to the hill in the background.
Thanks for the extra info!
Yes, Oscar Niemeyer is famous.
