March of 2014

in Discovery-it2 years ago

Days were warm, nights were relatively cold, and I picked plenty of wild asparagus to sell, and to eat. That's how that early spring of 2013 could be summarized. And simplified.

You can see some of those delicious Asparagus acutifolius shoots in this opening photograph. I was collecting them on the stony terrain, in the area a couple of kilometers from the village of Premantura.

Here you can see an Anemone hortensis flower. It was photographed on the outskirts of Medulin, my hometown ...

... just like the asparagus bouquet shown in this shot.

In this set of twelve photographs, you can follow one of the sunsets from that period. The sun is going down in the area around Pomer. Pomer is a small village, only a couple of kilometers from where I live.

This is a souvenir from the circus show I visited many years ago. It must have been 2004 or 2005, It was the last circus that visited my hometown.

A friend was there with me. She got photographed with the alligator. Or a caiman. I don't know what exactly the young reptilian was.

Here you can see what's written on the other side of the booklet. In the following photograph ...

... you can take a look at the scenery a couple of kilometers from the village called Valtura.

Here you can see the asparagus shoots I picked there.

Before cooking, the soft upper part of the shoot has to be separated from the rest. Here you can see a friend doing that part of asparagus preparation from the comfort of the couch. The small dog called Bepina is assisting her.

I had a small compact camera back then, and that camera had a night-vision option that provided these green shots in the low light.

(Enlargeable)

I grew to like that ugly green tinge.

Here you can see the early morning dew in the meadow somewhere on the outskirts of my hometown.

An hour later, I photographed yet another wild asparagus bouquet.

(Enlargeable)

Here you can see the interior of the ethnographic museum in the city of Pazin and the friend who was there with me.

(Enlargeable)

Here you can see that same friend with her mother. A couple of hours before Pazin.

Some small exhibition was also going on in Pazin that day. No, not in the ethnographic museum. It was somewhere on the outskirts of the city, can't remember where exactly. Some Lego creations were showcased there.

So I photographed some of that Lego stuff. I mean, I don't know if all that you see in this and the previous photograph are Lego artifacts, but it sure looks like Lego to me. It has to be said though that I don't know much about Lego. It wasn't part of my childhood.

(Enlargeable)

This was also part of the exhibition, and it doesn't look like Lego.

Here you can see a shot from the archeology section of the ethnographic museum. The same friend that can be seen smiling here ...

... has created this artwork.

This is a detail of something found in the museum. Can't remember what it was. Some kind of sarcophagus, maybe. Or a tomb cover.

I took plenty of photographs in that museum.

You can see a weird little angel here.

This narrow stairway ...

(Enlargeable)

... led us to a mysterious empty room.

(Enlargeable)

Today, while preparing the post, I found out that the room looks great when the Photoshop "invert" option is applied to it.

I don't know what to say here. Just another interesting room with some cool stuff in it.

In this shot, you can take a look through the bars of a small window. The ethnographic museum is situated in an old castle. The walls are thick, and there are plenty of small barred windows and mysterious narrow passages.

I don't know where exactly this photograph was taken. Probably in Pazin. The funny thing about the building shown here is that in most aspects looks like an ordinary family house. But on the first-floor terrace, it has this awning typical for businesses. Shops. Cafes, Stuff like that. It also has a writing that states "women's clothing" in Croatian. The awning is mounted above the balcony door which definitely doesn't look like an entrance to a store. Furthermore, the "women's clothing" writing is paired with a bunch of clothes hanging on the
clothes drying wire. That stuff doesn't look on sale to me. Is more like ordinary stuff that a family washes and puts out to dry.

I like details like this. I like 'em a lot.

And that's it. This quick look at some old stuff from March 2014 ends here.

AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.

THE END

You have your own style of taking pictures and making them talk with us.
Great talent you have.

Thank you. 🙂 Glad you like the post.

It's amazing how long you've had these pictures and now you are reliving the memories and sharing them with us.

This wild asparagus had led to so many other photos that were truly relaxing to view.

I felt as though I paid you a visit and you entertained me with your family album as it was often done in the past before we had TV and social media.

Thank you so much for sharing. Love the shots and the memories around them.

That tomb/sarcophagus/treasure chest could be a pirates own🌝😂😂😂

😮😀😮

I don't know if I have ever commended you for you ability to save pictures for years. It is a beautiful thing. Keep it up!!!

Whenever such a weather occurs, it is hot during the day and cold at night, people do not understand what to do. Such a time is very difficult when a person has to feed himself by selling things. Your pictures always make me think something new.

nice picture display. Good morning friends.

I'd love to have that asparagus for am appetizer.
Lovely photos especially the sunset.
