Wow that's a lot of bees, and yes, that tree is indeed very beautiful! Wasps and such don't really react to the fire, but the smoke. You could us that somehow - but I guess the spray and dust did their job, anyway :-D
I didn't know that yellow jackets weren't pollinators. Just read up on that, and though they can contribute to controlling pest insects in a garden, they also kill other pollinators. So, yeah, maybe it's an overall good thing to get them out of the trees.
