Dante and Virgil - watercolor on paper

Hello all dear friends Hivers and welcome back to my blog. Today I present a watercolor I made for a Norwegian cultural association in the city of Kristiansand. I will be their guest for a solo painting exhibition after August 15 about which I will update you. The association is connected to the Dante Alighieri Society for Italian Culture, which is based in the same city, and so they asked me to depict an illustration that reminds them of Italian culture connected to the exhibition venue.

These are the photographs of the location they sent me.

These are old houses from the 18# century where the changing of tired horses with fresh horses took place, in short a post station.

So I took the reference of the large two-story wooden house and inserted two horses in the background, and in the foreground Virgil accompanying Dante on the journey of the Divine Comedy.

I hope you like it, and I send you a hug all the way to Purgatory, where from Paradise onward Dante will go on his own.

Dante e Virgilio - acquarello su carta

Ciao a tutti cari amici Hivers e ben tornati sul mio blog. Oggi vi presento un acquarello che ho realizzato per una associazione culturale Norvegese della città di Kristiansand. Sarò loro ospite per una personale di pittura dopo il 15 agosto di cui vi aggiornerò. L'associazione è collegata alla società per la cultura italiana Dante Alighieri che ha sede nella stessa città, ed allora mi hanno chiesto di raffigurare una illustrazione che ricordi la cultura italiana collegata alla sede della mostra.

Sopra ho messo le fotografie della location che mi hanno inviato.

Si tratta di antiche case del 18# secolo in cui avvenivano i cambi dei cavalli stanchi con cavalli freschi, insomma una stazione di posta. Così ho preso il riferimento della grande casa in legno a due piani ed ho inserito due cavalli sullo sfondo, ed in primo piano Virgilio che accompagna Dante nel viaggio della Divina Commedia.

Spero vi piaccia, vi mando un abbraccio fino al Purgatorio, dove dal Paradiso in poi Dante andrà in giro da solo.
