Today I saw this on local newspaper... I was impressed by the incredible high emotional power of this picture... i felt like never before... tears start falling down my eyes without having consciousness of it.
I wanted to share what I discovered behind this picture..the story of a wonderful friendship between a gorilla and a human...

The female gorilla was rescued when she was only two months old in the wild found clinging to the body of her lifeless mother.

Her death occurred on September 26th after a long illness, as explained by the management of the national park, which has released a tearful photo: Ndakasi is hugging her keeper and friend Andre Bauma, while she takes her last breath. "It is with heartfelt sadness that Virunga announces the death of the beloved mountain gorilla, Ndakasi, who had been in the care of the Park's Senkwekwe Center for more than a decade," the park said. "Ndakasi breathed her last breath into the loving arms of her lifelong keeper and friend, Andre Bauma," she added.

The Senkekwe Center, located within the park, is the only facility in the world that cares for orphaned mountain gorillas. Bauma has been caring for Ndakasi since 2007, when her rangers found her clinging to the body of her dead mother. Her puppy was only two months old. Too vulnerable to return to the wild, Ndakasi lived with other orphaned mountain gorillas until her death.

"It was a privilege to support and care for such a loving creature, especially knowing the trauma that Ndakasi endured at a very young age. It was Ndakasi's sweet nature and intelligence that helped me understand the connection between human beings. and the great apes and why we should do everything in our power to protect them, ”Bauma said. "I am proud to have called Ndakasi my friend. I loved her like a little girl and her cheerful personality brought a smile to my face every time I interacted with her. We will all miss her at Virunga, but we will always be grateful for the wealth that Ndakasi brought into our lives during his time in Senkwekwe. "
Ndakasi, according to CNN, has participated in several television shows and films, including a documentary called "Virunga", but it was her photobomb in 2019 that brought her global fame. In the image, Ndakazi is pictured next to another female gorilla, named Ndeze. The couple appears to be natural in front of the camera; one stands proudly in a power pose with her feet wide apart, while the other leans forward to enter the shot along with park ranger Mathieu Shamavu.

When Ndakasi was born in 2007, the mountain gorillas were in great danger from poaching and indiscriminate killings. Thanks to a series of measures taken by the authorities, the situation seems to have improved: from 720 specimens in 2007 to 1,063 in 2021. "The death of Ndakasi underlines the importance of protecting gorillas in their natural habitat, where they thrive and where their life expectancy is higher.
