After thirteen years of conservatorship, protest after protest, court battle after court battle, Jamie Spears is finally stepping down.
Britney Spears has said for a long time she wanted out of this conservatorship and to take control back of her own life. She has said in court that she wants to press charges against her father and have him arrested for abuse.
He said (Jamie Spears) he would cooperate with the court on a transition, but did not give a timetable for his resignation.
Apparently there is no legal way for her to suspending the conservatorship but her father seems to have finally realized he need to back down.
The singer’s legal team states that while Spears stepping down is a major win for their client, they are still unhappy by her father’s “attacks.”
Britney Spears and the Free Britney movement have gotten a win but it seems the fight may be far from over. Jamie Spears still needs to officially resign and Britney may still bring charges against him.
