I was in a similar position to @themarkymark in the early days of Steem.
I powered up a large amount of Steem on anonymous accounts and spent months downvoting selfish voters with them. I used anonymous accounts to prevent receiving blowback.
It is a tiring, thankless job.

I downvoted with my main account so the SP would have some impact. I am still getting tiny DVs from someone after a few years. Others tried to wipe out my rewards, but the community supported me. A lot of people just won't consider downvoting, but it is needed in some cases.
Large amounts? Where did they go?
Not whale amounts, but I had more Steem in the past than I have Hive today. A man has expenses in life.
Not expenses than me :P
Some works are meant for the entire community. If only we all are considerate about most of our upvotes, this job will be done automatically by everyone. But then Kudos to keeping hive clean
I appreciate downvoters.
yes, everybody starts criticising for getting downvotes. the same way people say about the marky
Did people recognise you that it was you doing with another account?
I do not know.
Of course I also remember downvote these when I worked on Steemhunt. It was a great project, but now it has not alot users.
This type crap still going on?
