Wish there was more explanation because ICOs is one of the many ways to birth a new cryptocurrency...
What makes it different is that it's in form of a Sale or an Crowdfunding, unlike an Airdrop which usually offers the coin for free. At least that's how I understood it.

That's right, how ethereum did it in 2014 to raise funds for the ethereum foundation. I would like to have something more explanatory, but in d.buzz people look for something fast, not like in the blog for example.
