RE: So, #nintendo is releasing #NintendoSwitch OLED Model which has a lot ...

I don't think they'll do that. Even if they wanted to, it'll be too late to add them 4 years into the system's life, and it'll be insanely hard to add them to earlier games.

But some games I played (Disgaea?) had in-game achievements as part of the game, if you're into that.

I think it's quite easily done. I use RetroAchievements for older games using the emulator RetroArch. I think Nintendo are getting lazy in terms of software over the current generation.

In Nintendo's case I don't think it's laziness, it can also be a choice...

The existence of achievements itself makes players less likely to experiment with the game, more likely to view it as series of tasks to be completed. Which goes against Nintendo "gameplay philosophy."

Sometimes, yes, it does distract you from the game. But achievements are on everything now except Nintendo.

I'm indifferent about this to be honest, but I was just saying it might be their own choice considering all the options not a laziness thing. Not that it changes anything... There are many other things you can accuse Nintendo of being lazy for.
