This is Nigeria 🎶

Greetings!

I woke up on the 1st of October around 4:00 AM to see messages of "Happy New Month and Happy Independence Day" on my WhatsApp. I smiled and peacefully ignored them because I don't usually go along with such vibes, mainly because most of these messages are either copied, pasted, or forwarded. I wonder why people can't take the time to type messages themselves.

I thought about what to write regarding Nigeria since it's our independence day, and the first thing that came to mind was music. Initially, I wanted to write the usual nice things, but then I found myself on YouTube, and somehow, I stumbled upon one of the craziest yet unpopular songs about Nigeria. It’s by a lawyer-turned-musician named Falz.

The song focuses on the lyrics, which highlight the current state of affairs in Nigeria. Normally, for Nigerians familiar with the song, we take it as a comedic piece, even though everything the lyrics say is bitter truth. Ideally, we should be furious with the government and the entire system upon hearing it, but we aren't. It's what we've grown accustomed to, and we’re already comfortable with this lifestyle.

🎶"This is Nigeria, everybody is a criminal."🎶

I remember back in school, one of my lodge-mates loved this chorus so much, especially this particular line. He would sing it repeatedly, and we'd laugh.

What Falz said is the absolute truth. As amusing as it might sound, everyone in the country seems to be cheating one person or another—except me, though. I know this applies to all countries since everyone in business wants to make a profit, often through some form of deception. But in Nigeria, it's particularly bizarre because this criminality extends even into religious homes.

This is Nigeria, where animals swallow money

Did you know that there was a time when 36 million naira went missing in a government office, and the management of the office claimed that the money was swallowed by a python? It was the first time we heard such a story, and it set the internet on fire. Shockingly, the issue went to court, and in the end, the court accepted that the money was indeed swallowed by a python. Can you imagine that!

Back then, everyone was furious, but it soon became a joke, and we laughed about it and moved on with our lives. You won’t find that happening in any other country.

This is Nigeria, where corrupt politicians, some even responsible for killing their citizens, are voted into power by the very victims.

Our current President is someone whose election continues to baffle me. Before the election, there was a genocide, and all evidence pointed to the fact that he ordered the killings. At that time, people swore never to vote for him when he eventually campaigned for the presidency. But guess what? Even the victims of the genocide were out campaigning for him when the election came. Isn't that funny?

This is Nigeria, where police stations close by 6:00 PM for security reasons.

Imagine—the police, who are supposed to protect the people, close office during the day to ensure their own safety.

After the government's failures, the worst institution in Nigeria is the religious sector. Right now, it’s in competition with the government to see which is more harmful. The religious system in this country is so flawed that it's contributing even more to the hardships Nigerians face. I don't want to stress this too much, to avoid being attacked by religious people who may come across this. Lol 😂

Thanks for reading.

God will help us.

This is Nigeria, and we are not all criminals 😁

All of us join 😂

Happy independence day friend, this reminds me of my childhood time when we go for match pass in respect to serve our father's land with loyalty as children who are the leader of tomorrow, Nigeria 🇳🇬 will be great.

Yeaah.
The match pass of a thing was something I was fully involved during those days and it was fun. These days, if such fun is being held, I don't think so it's still as fun as it used to be.

Thank you for stopping by bro
