Where Should I Put My Shoes?

Sometimes I may appear to be calm and going about my regular activities but deep down I am in a different world, singing, composing, remixing, possibly even dancing.

At some other times, I realise only when my attention is called by another that I have been expressing these thoughts in a dance.

One such activity where I am usually caught off guard is while polishing my shoes, a seemingly trivial task that should be of little or no significance. For me it's a whole deal and it's because of a movie I watched long ago, Coco.

The movie has a lot of beautiful songs in it, which is the main reason I watched it anyway because a friend who knew my music taste specially recommended it, knowing I would enjoy the songs therein.
The song "un Poco loco" is my favourite from the movie and it readily comes to mind the moment I pick up a shoe.

Here is why. The second stanza goes like this;

Where should I put my shoes?
¡Ay, mi amor! ¡Ay, mi amor!
You say, "Put them on your head!"
¡Ay, mi amor! ¡Ay, mi amor!

Once I begin to polish a shoe, I begin with this second stanza (in my head) then my whole body joins and I begin to dance. Those who are familiar with the song knows how infectious the dance can be.

From the second stanza I proceed to the rest of the song until someone taps me, then I lower the volume of my earphones as I realise I wasn't the one singing. I was playing the song, lol. No wonder the melody.

A lot of my activities are performed with music playing in my ear or playing in my speaker. Sometimes I arrange a specific playlist for a special assignment while sometimes I allow the random selection of my music app to shuffle and run it's course and most times, it doesn't disappoint me.

One thing I have noticed is that my activities are easier with my earphones plugged into my ear, they are also faster and more pleasurable.

Music is the fuel that keeps me going. I can't do without it.

You see, I have been away for a loooong time. It was not intentional, it was just a necessity. I think I am back, stronger and better all thanks to music that saw me through the difficult parts of 2024.

This year has started with some level of ease unlike the last, hence optimism is on an all time high for me personally. I feel like I can achieve anything and everything this year while playing "I believe I can fly".

But it won't end there this time around, I see myself actually flying. Flying above my obstacles and soaring to unprecedented heights while setting personal and world records.
If you can think it, then it's definitely achievable.

Happy New Year my people. Below is the song from Coco, for your listening dancing pleasure.
