Time for the May update on what's happening with the GLD coin and the #earnspendgive community.
The Basics
What's been happening over the last month:
First:
The HBD staked in the account has come up to $6064. Important because that means the fund can get $100+ in HBD monthly.
Second
@merchantsguild continues to hold enough HP to cover all the GLD tokens issued.
The LEO and SPS that were paid out from HP delegation was used to purchase 231 GLD tokens through tribaldex and helped increase its value from 100:1 (last month) to 100:1.018 -- A 1.8% increase in one month.
Third
@terganmarket has set up buy and sell positions on the hive-engine so that anyone wishing to sell can get the 100:1 rate that is the preferred minimum peg for the token.
Coin Activity
My thanks for @monica-ene for being the first to voluntarily purchase a noticeable amount of coin. Her purchase makes her the top holder in an account that is not linked to the creators.

Monthly To Do List
100 HBD has claimed and will pay out shortly for the month of April.
- Income of 1% will be paid out to active #earnspendgive members on their GLD balance to be paid in Hive.
** Done: Paid out May 2nd, 2024**
- Earn : 20% of earnings will be used to grow the @hiveabbyftp account to earn more income.
** $20 HBD will be re-invested in HBD. However, for this month it will be sent to @merchantsguild to generate income to support the GLD coin**
- Spend : 20% of the earnings will be given to @terganmarket in order to purchase an item for review.
** $20 HBD will be sent to @tergamarket : Mission--Find the least expensive way to access Hive
- Spend : 20% of the earnings will be given to @terganmarket in order to purchase ingredients for food recipe's to review. With a recipe and food post to be made by @tergan and posted in #foodiesbeehive

Last month I wrote this
20% of the earnings will be given to a community member who wants to participate in a "mission". Preference will be given to the member who (a) has the highest GLD token count and (b) hasn't had a mission recently.
@monica-ene and @rare-gem both expressed interest. As @monica-ene is the current member with the highest GLD count she will be eligible to receive roughly $20 HBD for a purchase mission. So @monica-ene if you are still interested send a response to this post and we can iron out the details.
- Repayment : 20% of the earnings will be transferred back to myself in LTC to replace the money taken to invest into HIVE.
May's mission and a Call for interest
What is the first mission--should it be accepted:
Receive roughly $20HBD to purchase either a staple carbohydrate (flour, corn, rice or similar) or a staple protein (soy bean or similar).
Do a search online to find the best price (jiji.ng etc) and in person at the local market. Choosing whichever one appears to be the best deal. Half to be kept and half to be given away. Goal: How many calories can you get for $20HBD?
Post about how the process went. How were you able to convert the HBD to local currency? How was dealing with people online? How was dealing with people in person? Were you able to actually use the money to purchase food? Who did you give some to? How did you use your portion? Ideally I'd like to get an amount spent for a quantity purchased so I can compare prices to food here in Canada.
As this is the first month no guarantees things will go smoothly but I'm excited to see how this turns out.
As for other coin holders (mostly looking at @rare-gem and @jjmusa2004) is anyone else interested in doing a similar mission for June? If so, send a reply to this post and the person with the highest GLD count (who hasn't done a mission recently) will be given some HBD in June.
SIDE NOTE: If you can think of a more valuable use of the HBD related to something you are more interested in AND it can help yourself and someone else let me know. For example: If you are a seamstress and want to use the money to make clothing--great. If you are a Doctor and would prefer to purchase some medication for someone--great. I'm open to suggestions :)

What's the mission about
Hey there. I've just sent 60 HBD to @monica-ene
The mission (sort of) is to look online and in person for a big bag of food. Personally I would be looking at the 100kg bag of soy beans for 60,000 Naira but the final choice is between @monica-ene @rare-gem and @jjust2004 (joint collaboration and meet up 😁 )
When the food is received split half between the three of you and find people around you to share with.
Then tell how things went. I've already explained to @monica-ene what I'd like to see in the post but if you and @jjmusa2004 could also tell how things went that would be great.
What do I hope for in a post? (1) how did you convert the HBD to Naira. Was it easy/hard? What rate did you get for it? What did you look at online? Rice? Flour? Corn? Beans? and what did you decide on? Was it cheaper in your city or better price online? If you order online did it actually arrive? Were there problems with the shipment? Was it a quality product? When it arrived (if it arrived) were you able to use it? Was it hard to find people to give it away to? And finally....was it a fun mission? Did the meet up go well? How expensive was transportation? What would you do differently next time?

Hadn't really thought that far. A post on Hive would be preferable because I want to be transparent about where the money that I earn as HBD is going to support the community. It doesn't look great if I just say "sent to (name)" without any results or reason.
However, I know that you are constrained due to your status on Hive so for you I could make an exception :)
I will recommend "esgcontest". I have many reasons to pick this name.
I wouldn't mind leaving a well detailed comment under the post. Thus, you will get your transparency and I will get my blogs separated from all this. I like to participate but I can't post such content, currently. I hope it changes soon.
