La escuela: Es sombra y luz al mismo tiempo [Esp-Eng] concurso Observa, Piensa, Escribe

En septiembre, es el mes del inicio de las actividades escolares después de la pausa de las vacaciones de verano. En algunas partes es la continuación o en otros países es el inicio de un nuevo año escolar. En el caso de mi país, Venezuela, el mes de septiembre marca el inicio de la escolaridad, las escuelas y colegios vuelven a llenarse de cientos de niños y adolescentes que concurren a las aulas.

La soledad y tranquilidad de patios y aulas pronto será interrumpida por al bullicio y alboroto de del rencuentro de los amigos, de los gritos cariñosos de las maestras cuando vigilan el recreo. Los bancos volverán a sentir el peso de las mentes que llegan vacías y con el transcurrir del año académico se van haciendo más grandes y pesadas gracias a las lecciones que reciben cada día.

La escuela nos lleva de la sombra de la ignorancia, de la oscuridad que representa el desconocer las verdades del mundo que nos rodea, hasta la luz del conocimiento, pasamos de un banco de madera con un conocimiento endeble y a medida que vamos progresando en la escuela nuestros conocimientos serán sólidos y fuertes como el concreto que da forma a los bancos del patio soleado.

Desde la época de Sócrates y platón, la sabiduría es la fuente de la iluminación del discípulo, la escuela debe retornar ese ancestral modelo socrático donde se enseñaba a pensar, a sentir curiosidad y a preguntar para descubrir la verdad y no ese modelo donde se enseña a repetir, donde se adoptan medias verdades y donde la reinterpretación de la historia trae más sombras.

El equilibrio entre sombras e iluminación es el punto mágico de una verdadera escuela, y el alumno debe comprender que siempre hay algo nuevo que aprender.

In September, it is the month of the beginning of school activities after the summer vacation break. In some parts it is the continuation or in other countries it is the beginning of a new school year. In the case of my country, Venezuela, the month of September marks the beginning of school, schools and colleges are again filled with hundreds of children and adolescents who attend the classrooms.

The solitude and tranquility of courtyards and classrooms will soon be interrupted by the hustle and bustle of the reunion of friends, the affectionate cries of the teachers when they watch the recess. The benches will once again feel the weight of the minds that arrive empty and as the academic year goes by they grow bigger and heavier thanks to the lessons they receive every day.

School takes us from the shadow of ignorance, from the darkness of not knowing the truths of the world around us, to the light of knowledge, we go from a wooden bench with flimsy knowledge and as we progress through school our knowledge will be solid and strong like the concrete that shapes the benches in the sunny courtyard.

Since the time of Socrates and Plato, wisdom is the source of the disciple's enlightenment, the school must return to that ancestral Socratic model where people were taught to think, to feel curiosity and to ask questions to discover the truth and not that model where people are taught to repeat, where half-truths are adopted and where the reinterpretation of history brings more shadows.

The balance between shadows and illumination is the magic point of a true school, and the student must understand that there is always something new to learn.
