En esta oportunidad les comparto unas anécdotas demlo que me pasó en una oportunidad que fuimos a los toros coleados en Punta de Mata en el Estado Monagas.
Esta es una región ganadera por excelencia, pues cuenta con los llanos orientales, donde hacen cría extensiva de reses, criadas para desempeñar varias actividades, entre ellas las destinadas al deporte nacional, como lo es el coleo. Este deporte cuenta con varias similitudes al rodeó americano, pero cuenta con diferencias notables, pues un grupo de jinetes, que tienen que ser bien diestros, entran a la manga, que es una especie de redil amplio cercado, por donde se realizan las actividades de la persecución del toro, una vez sale al ruego por la abertura del toril, el reto consiste en que uno de los jinetes (coleadores) persiguen al animal y lo agarra por la cola, solo uno de ellos debe tener la cola, pero para tenerla hay que lucharla, entonces tienen 5 minutos para derribarlo varias veces, los coleadores deben estar en sus respectivas monturas al momento de acceder acercarse al toro. Una vez el jinetes se aferra al rabo, lo tuerce y lo hala ee tal manera que el animal se caiga, para poder puntuar, el toro tiene que poner las 4 patas al aire, sí da una vuelta de campana vale 20 puntos; clmk la manga esta dividida en tres zonas, la muerta, primera zona y segunda, derribar al toro en la primera vale 20 puntos y en la 2da. 10 puntos y así sucesivamente hay varios maniobras en los que se obtienen diferentes puntuaciones .
El coleo, no mata el animal, pues siempre se realiza sobre arena o tierra suave, el toro siempre sale vivo, después del evento, sólo en muy pocas oportunidades se hace daño.
Este el un deporte patrimonio cultural de los llanos de Venezuela, es un deporte lleno de técnicas y disciplina, que genera mucha adrenalina pues los jinetes corren el riesgo de lesionarse, sí no están bien entrenados, quienes lo practican deben tener muy buenas condiciones físicas y resistencia, además de gran habilidad encima del caballo.
Asistir a una tarde de toros coleados es muy emocionante, yo he tenido la oportunidad de ir aquí en Punta de Mata, pero hay varios sitios donde las realizan, en Jusepin, San Antonio de Maturin, San Antonio de Capayacuar, en Cumanacoa, estado Sucre, pues en las fiestas de San Baltazar, se organizan para celebrar al Santo patrono del pueblo.
