I thought it might be fun to share my session recaps with you folks. I've done several long-form posts about specific parts of the D&D5e game I'm running, but since I'm using Obsidian more and more these days for worldbuilding and organizing my campaign/session notes, I thought I'd also put them up here. This provides my players a chance to review our current session notes, and gives you folks in HIVE a chance to see how I organize my game.
Session 1: The Greenbrook Talent Show
- Party met Dorin, and a Quill Agent. At that time, they weren't aware of who/what the green cloaked figure was. They recovered the artifact Gregor's Red Book of Automatons
Session 2: Greenbrook to Lavan
- With the help of Elaria Silverleaf, the party was pointed towards healers that might be able to stabilize Dorin.
- Dorin required specialized curse-breaking by Tully Puddlefinger of the Bandyhand Institute, who was missing.
- The party stole from the Temple after the Temple suggested that they pay for Dorin's healing (100g/day). Peril gave away a golden idol to a homeless person near the temple.
Sessions 3 , 4, & 5 Fistandia's Mansion
- The party follows Tully Puddlefinger into Fistandia's Mansion, eventually rescuing him by putting together the clues to re-open the inner door.
- They encounter Cumin & Coriander, the homunculi made by Freyot and Fistandia
- They get the first hints that Freyot and Fistandia are from Mach'Lithe. They additionally get the first hint that Freyot is a dragon.
- Muk-Muk captures a jar of hands, and begins trying to "train them". Takes gauntlets off of random armor stand
- Peril takes an Imp statue, which ends up being a living imp as soon as they leave the mansion. John the Backpack Imp. Begins training him by giving booze.
Session 6: Sycamore Crossing
- Newly hired as Retainers to the Bandyhand Institute, the party ends up racing Reaver's Party and stealing their horses.
- The party decides to go through the Red Forest, despite lore suggesting it was haunted and dangerous.
- Muk-Muk gains a new scar (handprints on his upper arms)
- Syl and Gwynne have their hair colour changed (Temporarily)
- Peril has 'nothing happen' which ends up being the realization of a Talent
- Sycamore Crossing itself sees the players uncover the death-cult sacrificing people to a Tripwire Patch in return for rapid plant growth in the area nearby (a mile or so).
- Team kills Sheriff Ialos, the deputy, the church of life cleric, and the towns druid, all of whom were part of the cult.
- The Party saves Reaver's Party, who were about to be sacrificed to the Tripwire Patch (Tome of Beasts/Tome of Beasts 3 Lairs).
Session 7: The Masquerade
- On the way back to town after saving Reaver's Party, the players were interrupted by a large portal opening off the path. Several large, black, armored carriages charged through, and pulled to a stop. A golden T inside of a diamond was the only obvious marker on them. These were carriages of the legendary Trigale Trade Guild, and Elaria Silverleaf urged the party to let Reaver take the horses back to Lavan while they joined her for a Masquerade, which they'd arrive at thanks to the distance-devouring effects of planar travel, as practiced by the Trigale Trade Guild.
- Here, Elaria Silverleaf meets with a contact of hers Kieran Vega, who two members of the party had previously burgled (Peril, and Muk-Muk), which was part of Elaria's plan to get his attention.
- The party ends up fighting their first Quill Agent - the Marquis, Prospero di Maschera - who was sharing "his gifts" with partygoers and turning them into hybrid monsters through some Talent-based magic.
- The party finally met Freyot in the flesh; She has been working with Kieran Vega to track down members of The Quill. The party learns this when she feels the presence of the key-book The Joy of Extradimensional Spaces, which Gwynne keeps on her person and calls the party out for having it. There is a discussion within Fistandia's Mansion about the goals of the party and the goals of the NPCs, and Peril outs Freyot as being a dragon - which was unknown to Vega, despite having worked together several years.
- They agree that they're all basically working in the same direction and agree to team up - Freyot and Vega will continue to search for other members of the Quill in their own way and clean up the mess from the party/death of the Marquis, and Elaria & PC's are sent back to Lavan to continue chasing their side of things.
- (Strange/impossible-to-be-here books being found outside of Mach'Lithe, such as Gregor's Red Book of Automatons, which Freyot remembers from the great library in Mach'Lithe)
- During their travel back to Lavan via the Trigale Trade Guild, the party is set upon in a realm unknown to them by strange creatures. They manage to win the fight however and make it home.
Which brings us up to current events! I'll be prepping a session in the next week or so, and will likely show that off too for anyone who might be interested.
Until next time, happy Worldbuilding my friends.
