Lily pads
These Lily pads are on the Mondeaux Flowage up in Northern Wisconsin where we used to own a cabin on the lake. It is in the Chequamagon National Forest and the Ice Age trail is nearby. It was a quiet peaceful spot to spend time.
Library
This is a photo of the charming little library in the central New York town where my aunt and uncle lived.
Lion
A lion carved from wood on an antique Circus Wagon in the Circus Museum in Baraboo, Wisconsin. It is where The Ringling circus had their headquarters and wintering grounds until 1918.
Log Cabin
In this land where trees were plentiful building with logs was the method many early settlers used to erect shelter in the wilderness.
Lighthouse
The Cana Island Lighthouse is on Lake Michigan in Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin. The island is connected to the mainland by a bit of a narrow natural causeway and you can walk to it if you are prepared to get your shoes wet if the waves kick up!
Ladder
A ladder in my living room being used by my kids as they were decorating for a birthday party they arranged for me! They wanted it to be a surprise, but obviously I noticed!

The last time a saw a lily pad was on a visit to the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, as well as a lighthouse on the same visit... so many ages ago! I love the lion, and because I do, I had lion (more the symbol Leo) on this week's hunt too... so how cool is that! On one of the last times my entire family vacationed together, we stayed in a log cabin in Yosemite. I was in college then. I cannot imagine myself alone in a log cabin now.

They kept it a surprise up until the day before, but since they had invited everyone to come to my house they had to tell me as they started to prepare for the party! It was a fun time!

My family has a small log cabin on the mountain near the village where I grew up, and when I was younger I spent weeks up there before the tourist season began, completely alone on the mountain. These times belong to the best times in my life.

I spent weeks alone at our cabin in the Northwoods (where the lily pad pictures were taken) No phone, TV or indoor plumbing and those days are some of the best days of my life, so I completely understand. I think that is why I am perfectly content to live alone now.
Because we are bordered by two of the Great Lakes, Wisconsin has some great lighthouses and plenty of stories of shipwrecks and lighthouse keepers.
Yes, you know what I mean 😀
No electricity and getting the water from the brook - that way you learn to live again.

Yes, such a life would be cool. I could imagine such later when my wife and I retire, but I don't think she'd play the game with me, so a few times of cabin life in the mountains will be enough I suppose 😉
