Phone Photography Contest - # 86 : Bulging little eyes🐞 [EN-ES]

This discovery was accidental, a gift from Mother Earth, astute and sagacious, waiting to reveal herself to anyone who dared to explore her hidden corners. There, on a reddish leaf of the bush, was a tiny emerald pill. Its mischievous and restless jumps sparkled with activity; it was clear that there was life there. To my eyes, its external morphology was imperceptible, something unprecedented; it was necessary to try to go further. Although, honestly, between you and me, many insects have escaped me, due to their ability to move, which has cornered my slowness.

Este hallazgo fue accidental, bondades de la Madre Tierra, astuta y sagaz, esperando revelarse a cualquiera que se atreva a explorar y hurgar en sus recovecos más ocultos. Allí, en una hoja rojiza del arbusto, se encontraba una diminuta píldora esmeralda. Sus traviesos e inquietos saltos, fulguraban actividad; era evidente que ahí había vida. A mis ojos, su morfología externa era desconocida, algo sin precedentes; era necesario intentar ir más allá. Aunque, en honor a la verdad, entre tú y yo, muchos insectos se me han escapado, debido a su habilidad de movimiento, que ha acorralado mi lentitud.

But the opportunity was there, so I took several shots, many of which were discarded. The ones I am sharing with you are, in my opinion, the most acceptable. As for the morphological characteristics revealed by the photographs, the bright green color is clearly predominant.

Pero la oportunidad estaba ahí, así que realicé diversas tomas, muchas de las cuales fueron descartadas. Estas que les comparto, son a mi entender las más aceptables. En cuanto a sus características morfológicas aportadas por las fotografías, es evidente en preponderancia su color verde brillante.

Three pairs of legs can be distinguished, indicating that it is a hexapod, a distinctive feature of insects. Its legs are slender and stylized, with the medial ones being longer, in line with the characteristics of jumping insects. Numerous spines can also be seen on its jointed legs, which, in my opinion, could be related to defense and/or a method of support and fixation.

Se pueden distinguir tres pares de patas, lo que expresa que se trata de un hexápodo, una característica distintiva de los insectos. Sus patas son esbeltas y estilizadas, siendo de mayor longitud las de ubicación media, en consonancia con las características de los insectos saltadores. También se pueden observar numerosas espículas en sus articuladas patas, lo que, en mi opinión, podría estar relacionado con la defensa y/o un método de apoyo y fijación.

It is also a winged insect, with wings that are similar in color to the body in their proximal segment, with a membranous structure, and dark brown in color with a firm structure in the apical segment, probably linked to a camouflage strategy, characteristic of its genus or distinctive of its species.

También es un insecto alado, cuyas alas son de color similar al cuerpo en su segmento proximal con una estructura membranosa, y de color marrón oscuro con una estructura firme en el segmento apical, probablemente vinculado a una estrategia de camuflaje, característica de su género o distintiva de su especie.

From what I can see, I cannot identify any characteristics that give me any clues about its mouthparts or genitals (male or female). It is most likely phytophagous and feeds on plant sap, such as that of the Tua Tua tree, which is rich in nutrients. What can be seen in its central region are two ocelli (small eyes), associated with its large, striking eyes, prominent and prominent on its head, which give the impression that they are popping out, so I have named it "bulging little eyes" which has gratified me for my discovery.

Por lo que puedo ver, no consigo identificar ninguna característica que me dé pistas sobre sus piezas bucales o genitalia (macho o hembra). Lo más probable es que sea fitófago y se alimente de la savia de las plantas, como la del árbol Tua Tua, que es rica en nutrientes. Lo que se puede ver en su región central son dos ocelos (ojos pequeños), asociados a sus grandes y llamativos ojos, prominentes y destacados en su cabeza, que dan la impresión de que están brotando, de ahí que lo haya bautizado como “ojitos saltones”, gratificando mi descubrimiento.
