Of Stories, De-stressing, and a Chillax Sunny Morning

I love these quiet, peaceful, serene times when it seems like nothing bad is going on in the world. It gives me a sense of hope that the universe is bigger than the trouble we humans have caused. That there is a God. And that, somehow, even after that brief moment when all is good, when chaos sets in and reality begins to bite, I still hear the echo of the divine inside telling me to calm down and take it easy. I'm a very laid-back kind of a person who likes to binge-watch on netflix. Any genre is okay, all is good to me. If the story rocks and sways at the right time, then I'm all for it. Whether it's a Korean Comedy or a US TV show, it can be quite fun. But I like watching not only because of the entertainment value of it, I also watch because I am a lover of stories. I find joy in looking at the nuances of story, the quick change in pace, the introduction of a new character, the story arc. Because every movie or TV show follows a formula, it can be fun to see the different elements come to play in what you are watching. I sometimes think about what the writer was thinking while he or she was writing this particular scene or the motivation behind the development of a character. It can be quite enjoyable to find clues and to know correctly guess what the next scene will be like. Or to know who the "real" bad guy was in a movie.

Stories, be it in the movie theater, streaming, or in a physical book, can bring us on another plane of existence, in another place where one can escape the harsh IRL that we sometimes go through; then return to the complexities and poignant truths of life. Life can sometimes be challenging and unpleasant, and it is in these moments when it is best to take a break, to clear one's mind and to strengthen the soul. Then return from daydreaming fully rested and 100% recharged to face the world head on. And, in the end, when the smoke clears and the complete picture is revealed, we know truly that we've become winners in the game of #LIFE.
