THE REUNION

Tony and his mother left their home town for their new home the next morning. They arrived the city about 11am. They used the rest of the day to settle in.

Monday of the next week, Tony resumed in his new office. When he got to the office, Dr Emeka was yet to arrive so he called in his secretary Miss Bukola to bring him up to speed on the office dealings. He was still going through documents with Miss Bukola when his intercom buzzed. He picked it up and Dr Emeka spoke from the other end asking Tony to come to his office. Tony left Miss Bukola in his office and went to see Dr Emeka.

As Tony walked towards Dr Emeka's office, so many thoughts ran through his mind: what if Dr Emeka wants to tell him employing him was a mistake? What if he has done something wrong? What if... He shoved the thoughts off his head as he approached Dr Emeka's door. He gently opened the door and walked into Dr Emeka's waiting room then Dr Emeka's PA told him to walk right into Dr Emeka's office as he was expecting him. Tony opened the door and walked in, bracing himself for the outcome of the meeting.

As Tony walked in, Dr Emeka looked up and kept staring and smiling at him. He kept picturing Kate as Tony walked towards him. When
Tony got to his desk he asked him to sit. He noticed Tony was uncomfortable and laughed. Then he asked him to relax as he just wanted to chat with him and know him better. Dr Emeka then asked Tony to tell him about himself. Tony told him him he was an only child and he lost his father before he was born. His mother struggled and suffered to train him. That's why he put in all his efforts to make her proud by graduating with first class honours. He also told Dr Emeka how he rushed to the village the day after he got the job and brought his mother back to the city with him. Dr Emeka found himself wishing Tony was his son. He wondered where Kate was and how his son was faring. His son will be about the same age as Tony.

Dr Emeka told Tony he was married but got separated even though he's still very much in love with his wife. He told Tony he made a great mistake and his wife left with his son. He has refused to remarry since then because he believed his wife will return someday. Dr Emeka begged Tony to permit him adopt him as his son. Tony was over the moon and he readily agreed. Dr Emeka then sent for his lawyers to prepare the documents to legalize it. He also placed Tony in charge of running the company. Every one was to report to Tony directly while Tony reports to Dr Emeka. That sorted, Tony returned to his office.
