Truth be told, when it come to ranking in splinterlands, there is no easy peasy way nor a shortcut to it without following the proper process, gone where those days when we hand leaderboard in all leagues and you were giving the option to either advance in leagues when you reach the maximum league rating or you just decide to stay and keep playing, those days each league have their max summoner/monster cards level which means if your cards level is more than the required level, the card level will be reduced to suit such leagues, then players only play just to climb up the ladder while still in the same league so they can earn the reward attached to it but things aren't like before, climbing in ranks now depends on lot of things especially after the team readjust and only provide one leaderboard to follow and also no card level limit which means at novice league you are allow to use maxed dec.
After that implementation, ranking is now a real business and not just a joke, you have to know your cards, your strategy to be able to win battles and rank up. Ranking depends on this various things:
Your Deck Collections
As an average player, ranking up have a great deal with what you have in your deck, right now in battle you have to imagine your opponent will always come into battle with maxed cards so it is advisable based on your league to at least have Gold or diamond level cards to play with. I do advice new players that do ask for help when it coming to ranking up to at least have at least gold level cards, you don't need to buy, renting is cheaper to play with nowadays and you don't really need high cost card even though they do work like magic but they can't play the whole battle alone.
Your Strategy
Apart from your cards, having a good strategy is one of the great deal when it come to battling, right now we have different set of ruleset combo and for a player, it is advisable to have a particular strategy for each ruleset or a general strategy that can work for multiple rules, this is were you get to watch other players gameplay in the top battle section or read people splinterland's related content on hive because embedded in those content are different strategies to catch up on. This method really help me a lot, it made my gameplay foundation solid, point out what I'm not doing right in some certain rulesets and how to adjust or fixed my mistakes.
One other aspects is finding ways to increase your gameplay rewards which you can use in upgrading your deck collections, that is where the sps staking or renting comes in, Sps now have a great deal when it come to deciding what you earn per wins, the amount of staked/rent sps now determines what your earn in terms of glint and sps rewards, I do see players not utilizing this option and just use their energy in battle without earning what they deserve to earn when it come to in game rewards especially in terms of glint which you can use in the glint shops to gain more soulbound cards. Also utilizing the content creation about spinterlands related content do have a long impact since you get to earn some tangible reward if you participate in the splinterlands weekly challenge which in turns, you can use the rewards gain in leveling up your deck and that give you more chances in improving your game play and also securing more rewards
