Being a leader isn't easy.

Leadership requires strength, authority and of course the ability to understand your subjects and know how to resolve issues when one arises.

Yesterday, there was a fight between course mates and the class representative. The argument was so heated and I watched how everything was gonna end. I waited to see the reaction of the class rep to the critics he was receiving from his fellow course mates.

The class rep at first reacted in a manner I didn't see fit for the position and of a leader who should know that critics is part of the things to face as a leader.

Definitely people will criticize you and it's in your place to ignore those critics and do what you think is best and not go as far as exchanging words with the people under your leadership.

This whole issue arose from the group created for passing vital information to students. Definitely some students are so crazy that they do whatever they want and as such warranted someone to post a sex video to the group which caused the fight, argument and of course exchange of words.

The class rep raged and removed the student from the group and that was the beginning of the commotion.

Students criticized him for being another Hitler of our time, they said he was an authoritarian and many names they called him. They gave their points saying no one in the class is a kid and also he could have just read out the rules of the group to the person whom he felt had violated the rules and not go as far as removing the person from the group.

It was a fight that lasted the whole night till the morning. The class rep felt bad and told us that he was trying and we should know that being a leader isn't easy.

Of course we all know that being a leader ain't easy. Before taking up the responsibility of being a leader, the person should be aware that there are lots of critics that may arise. Not everyone would love your tenure and method of handling issues so it's just left for the leader to ignore or resolve the matter amicably.

Exchanging words with your subjects only shows irresponsibility and weakness.

The place of a leader isn't for the weak hearted but for a person who is ready to withstand turbulence when it arises. As it stands, we're yet to vote in a new class rep for our department who'd be able to resolve issues the mature way.
