Hey There,
Hope you are all well. I have some work that's why I can't attend the hive. But today I am here an interesting topic. "The Sky is BLUE" & I have a Question.
Well you tell me why the color of the sky is blue?
No one could stop laughing when they heard the question. I pressed my face with great difficulty and thought to myself. God will decide whether the color of the sky will be blue or black, what is the use of melting our noses here.
In the meanwhile the light of hope shone and the first girl of the class said with confidence-
- Sir, May be More than 70% of the Earth surface is covered by water. Our atmosphere acts as a mirror and cast its image and thus the sky appears blue. Is this the answer is correct, sir?
A feeling of contentment in the mind. She survived! Sir, don't ask the question to anyone. But Sir was not satisfied with the answer. However, he brought the girl a glass of water with bravery for her efforts. We all saw that the water was very transparent. Blue is not added.
This time all the students were very quiet but Sir saw our scared face and laughed like candid. What's more, Sir's everlasting scientific explanation has begun.
When we look at the sky, we see that the whole sky is blue. As we all know, the color of the sky is blue. But why is the sky blue?
The answer is that there are tiny dust particles floating in the atmosphere around the earth. When light from the sun comes to the earth, it is scattered by those particles. And because blue wavelengths are shorter, they are more diffuse, according to Rayleigh's scattering formula. Due to which the sky looks blue in daylight. And at night there is no scattering due to the absence of sunlight and the sky looks black.
Didn't like it? Need more explanation? - All right.
First let me ask a simple question, well what is the color of sunlight?
White! Yes, everyone had this idea for many ages. Sir Isaac Newton examined and showed that the white light from the sun was actually a combination of seven different colors. The value of the wavelength of light of each different color is different. Red light has the longest wavelength and purple light has the shortest wavelength.
Scientist Tyndale did an excellent experiment. Mix milk and soap in a water. Now when light is thrown on one side of the liquid container, it is seen that the blue light rays of light are scattering more from the other side (Tyndall effect).
Soap and milk particles in clear water create this scattering of light. A few years later, Reilly conducted a more detailed study of the subject and discovered a new theory of light scattering, known as Rayleigh scattering. According to Rayleigh scattering,
Became more woodpecker? In simple terms, this means that the shorter the wavelength of light, the more scattered it will be. And the wavelength of blue light is much shorter than that of red light. Purple light has the shortest wavelength (among visible light).
The shorter the wavelength of blue light, the more scattered it is, and the more the sky looks blue, the better. Then the wavelength of the purple light ray is less than the blue light !! Then why the sky does not look purple ??
First, the scattering of light rays in the atmosphere is not constant for all wavelengths. At the same time, the atmosphere is so high above the earth's surface that much of that purple light is absorbed by the atmosphere as the scattered light reaches it.
Second, the human retina contains three types of cone. They are more sensitive to red, blue and green light than other colors. We see different colors due to the combination of different proportions of sensitivity of these cone. Our eye cells are not 'ultraviolet' light-sensitive. That is why the sky does not seem dark purple to people.
In 2020 nature take revenge. What we have done from the last several decades. In that Case nature shows the beauty of her. It is a General knowledge blog about the sky.
