Father was right

Father would always tell I and the boys to never go to where anyone is fighting with the intention of wanting to break off the fight because according to him, we might end up getting injured instead. “You can call someone to help but don’t go yourself”

He had even gone further to say that two people could stage a fight all in the hope that you would come try to separate them and then they end up injuring you in the process.

I probably never fully believed all what my dad said, though I try to stay away from areas where they seem to be any sort of fighting going on, but I still had my doubts until about some few months ago.

It was a football match. Chelsea had just lost a crucial game and you could tell that none of their fans was in a good mood. The Chelsea fans in this area are people known to always have a touch of madness in them so we always try to be careful when dealing with them.

But you see, there was this particular guy who must have felt like dissing out some violence, I had later found out he was a United fan. He had started laughing at the Chelsea fans as they all got out of the viewing center where we all went to see the match. His laugh must have been so annoying that one of the Chelsea fans had gotten infuriated and decided he couldn’t take it no more and that was how the whole fight began.

I made sure to watch from a distance as both grown men threw punches at each other. The fight was on for about seven minutes before a guy came out of no where and tried to break up the fight. He was still holding one of them (the United fan) when all of a sudden we saw the Chelsea guy smash a bottle he had picked up into the head of the guy separating them.

We all knew his intentions had been to hit the United guy but he had missed and now the guy separating them ended up with a bloody head. The blood was all they both needed to end the fight as they quickly rushed the guy to a nearby pharmacy.

I couldn’t help but think that that young man wouldn’t have a tear in his head if he had not gone to separate those two, father was right after all.
