Greetings to the beautiful Amazing Drinks community! 😊
In the residence where I live I am fortunate to have at hand different plants that we can use to make infusions, we have all benefited a lot with them, one of those plants and I am now discovering that it is beneficial to our health, is the Bougainvillea, being that its scientific name, although commonly or popularly it is known as Trinitaria, Veranera, Bougainvillea, the name will depend on the place where we are.
Well I know it as Trinitaria, and always used it for decoration, because its flower is very striking and beautiful.
A few months ago a man who has serious asthma problems told my husband that the leaves of this plant were very good for making tea or infusions, if we combine it with Lemon Balm, he said that it removed all phlegm and was very good for the flu, well I tell you that at that time we prepared the infusion and we really saw that it has an expectorant effect.
But we did not know that its flower also has very good benefits, for coughs, as an expectorant and some say it is very effective for constipation, the truth is that having this flower so close at home I wanted to try it in a delicious and refreshing infusion to which I have added Lemon and well I also put Sugar, today I wanted to take something sweet, but you know that it is always more beneficial without Sugar.
Something very important and documenting myself a little on Google about this plant, we are told that we should not take it in excess, as it can cause allergies, nausea, diarrhea, so its consumption should be moderate, and it is always good to consult a doctor.
Well, I just drank a glass without consulting anyone and I feel fine, but remember that each organism reacts differently.
Now, without further ado, let's make this drink.
Ingredients:
- 6 to 7 flowers of Trinitaria, veranera (Bougainvillea).
- 2 or 3 juicy lemons.
- 600 Ml of Drinking Water.
- 2 tablespoons of sugar (optional) you can use your favorite sweetener.
- Ice to taste.
How to prepare.
We start by washing and disinfecting our flowers, I used filtered water cup and a half and a splash of Vinegar, I left to soak for about 5 minutes.
Now in a pot we incorporate the 600 ml of Water and we put to cook until it boils, when we see that it begins to boil we add the flowers.
And we are going to leave them there cooking for about 3 minutes, we cover, when that time has passed we turn off the stove and let the infusion rest for about 10 minutes more.
Then strain, at this point you decide if you take the drink warm and put the lemon or if you wait to take it cold as I have taken it.
Well we continue, let it cool to room temperature, and then take a glass with ice, add the juice of 1 or 2 lemons, it depends on how acidic you want your drink, I used a lemon and a half for my glass, remembering that all the ingredients that I have given you at the beginning is for 2 glasses.
Now we add our Infusion.
And the sweetener to taste, well this time I used white sugar.
Stir, I used the same stirring straw.
Garnish our glass with a slice of lemon and our drink is ready!
Just enjoy it, it is a very refreshing drink, the flavor of the flower is very mild, but it is very good! 👌
Thank you friends for joining me and for your unconditional support, God bless you generously. 🙏🤗

Saludos hermosa comunidad de Amazing Drinks! 😊

A great post title 🙌
This is an unusual drink for me, and I'm happy that I saw this because I would have thought bougainvillaea was poisonous:)
Hello @millycf1976 😊
Yes, I thought the same thing until I Look the leaves of this plant in an infusion and then I saw several videos on the internet where they use the flower to make the drink.
I thought it was great and wanted to try it , but You have to take it in moderation.
Thanks for visiting me! 🤗🌹
I'm going to ask You a question and maybe it's imprudent, but I think the votes are not reaching the publication? Or maybe it's confusion 🫢

Well, it certainly looks pretty. I'm curious how much you enjoyed the taste though :)
No luck on the flower where I live though so I'll just have to wonder about that.
Of course while I'm reading the article I keep thinking how much easier it could be to dry the leaves and then just make a nice tea from it.
Then again, it wouldn't look pretty pink if you did that.
Thanks for sharing.
Hello @tergan 😊
I certainly enjoyed this drink a Lot because it has lemon in it and it gives it an acid that I love, also as it turned out to be very refreshing, these flowers are not bitter, its flavor is not strong.
I used to let the flower dry to have it as an ornament but I can try to make an infusion with the dried flowers.
Thanks You friend for your kind visit 😁

Very fresh and beautiful in color. I thought only butterfly pea flowers could be made into a drink but it turns out I can also make this flower. I want to try making it
Hello!
