Greetings, Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and outlying communities!
Time to bring everyone another does of "Cute Kitten Overload," as Shangri and Nala continue to settle into their new life with us!
So much to explore!
Our young kits' nervousness is melting away, as they discover more and more corners of the house... and discover that there is "nothing bad" hiding there.
Today, they have been with us for three weeks.
Shangri, being a goofball!
It has become pretty clear that they were somewhat traumatized by their early life, and spending six weeks at the shelter likely didn't help, but they are becoming quite trusting.
Nala, looking at herself in an antique mirror
Today, the kittens spent many hours exploring the Mom-Hooman's office... a room where they likely will end up spending a lot of time.
Aside from being endlessly fascinated by the finches the Mom-Hooman keeps (caged, for safety!), there are so many other things to examine.
Nala, testing out one of Curator Cat's favorite sleeping spots!
The Mom-Hooman brought in a favorite soft cat blanket, and they very quickly took to it.
In fact, it was no more than maybe 15-20 minutes before they were fast asleep and enjoying the constant background music always flowing through the the house.
Happy sleeping kittens
This is actually somewhat of a "big deal," in the sense that they are now sleeping "out in the open," and even in a room they don't know all that well!
So we consider it a successful day... and a good way to mark their 3rd week here!
But they are young and energetic cats, so it was not too long before they were back in the "kitten room," roughhousing and play-fighting on the bed.
All in all, we feel like we won the "kitten lottery" with these two... and we hope they feel the same!
And no, we haven't forgotten about Curator Cat... he's very much enjoying his life in the sun, and periodically he steps in and plays "Uncle Shadow" for the kittens during playtime!
Thanks for visiting the cat blog again, and we hope to see you again!

Love Cats? Get Involved in Hive's Cat Communities!
If you're a cat lover and often/sometimes post pictures or other content that includes your feline friends, why not become an active part of Hive's growing Cat Communities?
These are some of the more active Cat Communities — why not join them ALL? Many of the allow you to share your cat posts, even if you started at a different community!
HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!
Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!
Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!
Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!
Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.
There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!

Trying to get back to emotional stability here. There is a guilt aspect mixed in with the sadness of the loss. I will post about it this coming weekend.
Your kits spent the first most important weeks of their life. The imprint months in cages at the kaotic shelter. Your rescue was in the nick of time as they are still impressionable.
We have rescued a couple in the past that were nearly a year and a few others that had near death starts ( eyes infected shut, one had spent a year in a house being attacked by a bully cat)
Those cats took years to come out of their shells and trust again. We still see signs of the psych damage.
The lottery has been won. No doubt about it for them. ❤️
So nice to see these kittens have grown so much in three weeks. They are definitely having a good time, feeling very safe and secured. Hope they would play with the big cats soon.
