@farm-mom and I have so enjoyed our suet feeder. It has attracted so many of our #feathered #friends, we decided that doing a #DIY project, constructing some feeders for our four children, would be pretty neat.
They have all spent many of their formative years enjoying vacations on our
farm. This has nurtured an affinity between #Mother #Nature and their own being.
Hopefully, these gifts will attract many birds and give them all an opportunity to cherish what we have come to admire, #nature and its winged participants.
The plus one more, as mentioned in the title of this post, is for a couple of strangers in reality, but a special couple that we met over four years ago when we started blogging. We first stumbled upon these fine folk through a great community known as @foodfightfriday. Since that unsuspecting occurrence, we think of @dandays and @puravidaville as more than just pen pals, interesting people, true to each other, and oh so adventurous.
we'll be calling on UPS to do what they do, deliver a package as promised.
With our own suet feeder looking a little worn, I decided to first make a prototype, changing a few dimensions in the design. I guess I really made six of these feeders. The one in the bottom right hand corner of this collage will be replacing the ragged one we presently have hanging.
The wood these feeders are made with are White Cedar and Hemlock, both of which can withstand the outdoors. The roof and rails around the base of the feeder are cedar, while the base itself and roof support are hemlock.
It's great to be able to pull the needed lumber from our stock pile of wood that we have milled, very cost efficient with the current prices of lumber.
Along with the suet feeder we will include a case of suet.
No suet, no #feathered #friends.
While I was at it I decided that I might as well replace the other two feeders with new ones.
The birds have been squawking about the leaky roof for a while now.
Lets see how our #featheredfriends like their new food dispensers.
The new feeding grounds seems to be under siege.

happy and stuffed to their tail feathers. At this rate this #silverblogger may have to come out of retirement,
I'm quite honored to be on your future list of recipients. This is when I wish I had something better than thank you on deck—just doesn't cut it. Not sure where deck and cut it came from, interesting considering I don't have wood....
I know we've said it a bajillion times, it never gets old hearing/reading. Thanks man, crossing paths with you two truly has been a pleasure be it virtual or not, it's like I've known you forever. She's lucky to have you and you her, I know the feeling.
Now wwhere's your gloves and is that bench OSHA approved?!? 👊🏼
ThanMuch love Jurg's, from wherever we are.Good to hear from you again, a little like old times.
Feelings are mutual.
Thanks for the tip you sent to my wallet.
I had mentioned building these feeders a year or so ago, I think it was when you bought that property. They finally made it to the top of the list.
Being that I was a little laid up a few weeks or so ago, this was a project that didn't require to much walking or standing on my feet.
I hope you're having the weekend of a lifetime.
Much love back at ya!

Thanks, it was a lot of fun building them, knowing that the kids may really like them. When they come to visit they are amazed by how many birds the feeder attracts.
Thanks for stopping in and taking a look, your support is always appreciated!
Each dressed to kill enjoying your suet snack bar, lovely gift to send to family and friends to enjoy bird life in the garden.
Sadly these do not work here, with monkeys traveling through, only seed put down which they also eat. Do your squirrels leave these feeders alone?

Monkeys, I'm not sure how you would every keep them out of anything that's not inside or bolted down.
The squirrels are somewhat of a problem. Just this past week a raccoon has been playing havoc with the feeders. I plan on catching him in a live trap and then relocating his butt.
Thanks for the LUV my friend!
You have no idea how much I would love to see a naughty raccoon! Well you do what is necessary and move him onto the neighbours property for shits and giggles....
Sounds like you are fully recovered after bionic op, strong enough to wander once again inspecting the property which is good!
Good morning, at least it's morning here. I like that idea of relocating to a neighbor's property but this thing needs to be relocated to a different zip code.
I just had my coffee while sitting outside and the dam coon knocked over two pots of flowers trying to get at a different feeder. I figured that until I move the raccoon I would just take in the suet feeder. That didn't work.
He or more likely she, you know how woman can cause mayhem, 😁 must have the entire placed scoped out.
I'm getting around pretty good, I just need to gain strength in the leg and then I'll be back to full throttle.
Peace my friend.
Amazingly they find a way or means of getting what they want, must be a she 😄..., send her to my zip code see how she gets along.
Up and running in time for harvesting soon, now that is good news after all Robin cannot do all the heavy carrying now then can she?
Take care and !LUV to the family!

Wow look at all those birds, that's great that you have provided such a wonderful safe place for them to feed from. Well done and a wonderful skill to pass onto your kids also xxx
Thanks for such a nice reply. The birds are very safe, but we're the ones in harm's way. When they get to flying and are in an eating frenzy, you almost have to duck to avoid being beaked. 😁
WOW, it is amazing!
I will add to my bird feeders.
The one I have, I don't see any birds.
When I come back from vacation!

If you need a couple of birds, I'll see if I can get a few could do a fly by.
Before moving up here, we never saw so many birds of all different kinds.
I hope you're having a wonderful vaca.
Thanks for the LUV my friend.
Wow! Everyone liked them! That's so cool! I love the design. I'd be afraid to put one up here right now, don't need to encourage the bears...
Bears, no feeders for you. We've had a raccoon that has been a pain in the butt lately. It's been getting into the suet feeder every night. I think I may have to live trap him and relocate a few miles down the road.
