I made this tassel specially for my choir in my #church. They recently sewed a new choir garment and a new cap, and they needed a tassel that was very long. They searched for it in the market, and I also checked, but we could not find the exact length and style they wanted. So they requested that I make the tassel myself, and because they needed many pieces, I decided to produce them by hand. This is exactly how I made each #tassel.
Materials I Used:
Thread
scissors
Wax glue

To get the right length, I picked a rectangular object that matched the long size they described. This shape helped me keep everything equal and straight. I held the thread firmly and began turning it over the rectangular object over and over and over until I got the number of folds I wanted. I made sure the layers were even so the tassel would come out full and neat.
When I was satisfied with the thickness, I gently slid a separate piece of thread under all the wrapped layers at the top. I pulled it tight and tied a strong knot. This formed the head of my tassel. I tied it again to make sure it would not loosen since it will be used on a choir cap.

After securing the top, I used my scissors to cut the thread at the bottom of the rectangular object. Once I cut it and removed it, I had long strands hanging together from the top knot.

After cutting the strands, I picked another long set of thread. I tied this thread to a high place so that it would stay firm while I worked. Then I doubled the thread about four times to give it enough strength. After doubling it, I began to twist it. I twisted it until the entire length became tight and smooth, just like a layered twist.
When the twisting was complete, I used the twisted thread to wrap the head of the tassel. I wrapped it round the top part to form a clean and well shaped neck. This created a neat and beautiful pattern that made the tassel look good. After wrapping the head, I used the remaining part of the twisted thread as the rope. It makes the tassel stronger and more elegant for the choir cap.

To finish the tassel, I focused on making the ends even and smooth. I cut a piece of cardboard and folded it into a rectangular shape. I wrapped and taped the cardboard so that it stayed firm and straight. After preparing it, I inserted the tassel into the rectangular cardboard and gently pulled it down to the edge. Once the strands were lined up at the bottom, I used my scissors to cut the ends neatly. This made the tip of the tassel uniform and clean, giving it a perfect finish.
