Today, I will be sharing with you the making of this this beautiful grown outfit I made for my niece from left over fabric.

Last year December, my sister was gifted this fabric, though it was given to her as a surprise for the season and it was handed to me to make an outfit for her, after I succeeded in making her outfit, I found out the remaining fabric can be used to creat something simple for her girls which I stylishly and creatively made into something nice for the kids, It came out so beautiful and as a surprise to my sister and her kids were so glad to have their outfit as well.

Let me take you through the cutting and sewing process

From the left over fabric, I cut out the basic block bodice using the measurements of my little niece from the shoulder line down to the knee line for the front and back, after which I placed it on a black lining to cut out same shape, it was used to turn the bodice inside out to avoid seeing through the fabric because of it's texture, then I picked the basic dart as well for the front and back with the zipper allowance at the back.

The front and back were then sewn together by joining the shoulder together and sewing both sides together as well with the side seam allowance and zipper at the back.

The remaining fabric was used to cut out a long piece which was x3 of the round knee measurement, to complete the desired full length measurement of the gown. The long piece was gathered to the round knee measurement and it was sewn to the gown.

To complete the gown, I cut out a short sleeve with x2 of the round sleeves measurement with lining.

The sleeves was sewn together with the lining, at the middle, I made a loop and inserted an into it to make a ruffle.

Finally, the sleeves were sewn to the armhole circumference and I have a complete outfit for my niece from a left over fabric.

With this, I was able to make a family outfit for my sister and her daughters.

I hope you like the beautiful outcome just as my sister and her kids were happy to have same outfit.

Thanks so much for your time, support, comment and encouragement. Until my next post. Do have a great and productive year.
