Pearl earrings, delicate and super easy🤍✨

A few days ago, I took advantage of some free time to make some simple and delicate earrings, using some pearls I had saved from a bracelet that broke a while ago. I love it when I can recycle materials and create something new, so I got out my wires and pliers and got to work.

Hace unos días aproveché un ratito libre para hacer unos zarcillos sencillos y delicados, usando unas perlitas que tenía guardadas de una pulsera que se me dañó hace un tiempo. Me encanta cuando puedo reciclar materiales y crear algo nuevo, así que saqué mis alambres, mis pinzas y me puse manos a la obra.

Materials

• 18-gauge wire
• Two beads
• Silicone pliers for smoothing the wire.
• Tubular pliers for forming the bend.
• Cutting pliers
• File for filing the tip of the pin.

Materiales

• Pinza de silicón para alisar el alambre.
• Pinza tubular para formar el doblez.

Step by step

First, I took a piece of wire and measured it to be around 20 cm, but I didn't cut it yet: I prefer to make sure I have enough length before cutting. With the wire in hand, I threaded the beads onto it. Then I ran the silicone pliers over the wire to smooth it out and remove any visible marks.
Using the tubular pliers, I bent the wire at the tip, measuring approximately 1 cm with my finger. I moved the bead up until it rested against the bend, so that the bead was securely in place and ready to be twisted.
With the free end of the wire, I began to wrap it around the bead, guiding the wire around the piece to the right. I made two complete turns, taking care to ensure that the turns were tight and neat. Before starting a third turn, I cut off the excess with the cutting pliers.

I repeated the procedure for the second bead, but reversed the direction of the twist, this time turning the wire to the left. This helps to achieve a pair of symmetrical, balanced earrings with the same aesthetic for each ear. I measured the length of the pin I wanted, cut off the excess, and smoothed the tip with a file so that it would not prick or cause discomfort when wearing the earrings.

Paso a paso

Primero tomé un trozo de alambre y lo medí en torno a 20 cm, pero no lo corté todavía: prefiero asegurarme de tener suficiente longitud antes de cortar. Con el alambre en mano introduje las perlitas. Después pasé la pinza de silicón por el alambre para alisarlo y, así, dejarlo sin marcas visibles.
Con la pinza tubular doblé el alambre en la punta, calculando con mi dedo más o menos 1 cm. Subí la perlita hasta apoyarla justo contra ese doblez; así la cuenta queda bien asentada y lista para recibir el entorchado.
Con el extremo libre del alambre comencé a bordear la perlita, guiando el alambre alrededor de la pieza hacia la derecha. Di dos vueltas completas, cuidando que las vueltas quedaran pegadas y ordenadas; antes de iniciar una tercera vuelta corté el excedente con la pinza de corte.

Repetí el procedimiento para la segunda perlita, pero invertí la dirección del entorchado, esta vez giré el alambre hacia la izquierda. Esto ayuda a lograr un par de aretes simétricos, equilibrados, con la misma estética para cada oreja. Medí el largo del pin que quería, corté lo que sobraba suavicé la punta con una lima para que no pinche ni incomode al usar los zarcillos.

The result was beautiful: I made two pairs of new earrings using some pearls I had saved. Today, I tried them on to take a photo and loved how they looked—simple and elegant. I'm happy because now I have some new earrings that I can wear or give as a gift.

El resultado fue muy hermoso: hice dos pares de aretes nuevos hechos con unas perlitas que tenía guardadas. Hoy, me probé unos para tomarme una foto y me encantó cómo se veían, sencillos y elegantes. Estoy feliz porque ahora tengo unos zarcillos nuevos que puedo usar o regalar.
