Fund Raiser - Helping a friend with funding for a Wedding!

This post is part of the current Fund Raiser where a friend has given me an offer to buy a collection of Warhammer models, the money will go to putting down deposits for his wedding arrangements.

After that I have two other hobby debts to sort out.

I am collecting funds in the following ways:

• Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
• Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
• Selling some of the collection to friends.

The total remaining is $500!

What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!

Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.

I should have started when 10th edition launched!
596 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #225, I am 371 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)

January 2025 we are expecting Astra Militarum and Aeldari codexes as explained Here, so time to focus on THOSE Datasheets!

Aeldari, Fire Dragons

10th Edition Index

Fire Dragons are Aspect Warriors and Aspect Warriors are specialists who focus on one sort of task or skill almost to the exclusion of other things.

Fire Dragons are Meltagun wielding squad that makes them perfect for killing tanks and monsters. They are terrible in Melee, they are not much use for removing a mob of 20 Ork Boyz but they can blow up the Battlewagon they came it!

It costs 90pts to field a unit of 5 led by an Exarch. 180pts for 10 models, led by an Exarch.

They are off the webstore. New models incoming!

Let's check its stats.

Stats

Movement 7"
Toughness 3
Save 3+/5++ (armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 1 (2 Wounds for the Exarch in the unit)
Ld 6+
OC 1

Weapons

The unit all have Dragon Fusion guns (Meltaguns) and close combat weapons.

The Exarch can change his gun for a Firepike (an obvious upgrade to the Dragon Fusion Gun) or a Dragon's Breath flamer... which I think is dumb.

Ranged Weapons

Dragon Fusion Gun

12" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 3+, S9, AP-4 and D6 Damage each.
Melta 3 (Add 3 damage if the target is within half range of 6")
Assault (This weapon can be fired after a unit advances.)

Firepike

18" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 3+, S12, AP-4 and D6 Damage each.
Melta 3 (Add 3 damage if the target is within half range of 9")

Melee Weapons

Close Combat Weapon

2 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S3, AP0 and 1 Damage each.

Abilities

Assured Destruction

When they attack a Vehicle or a Monster, they re-roll a Wound roll of 1 and re-roll a Damage roll of 1.

Thoughts

So they should nuke most tanks, the re-rolls make it more common for a wound to go through AP-4 means 2+ saves go to 6+ and 3+ saves get nothing.

A 180pts unit shooting at a Razorback of 95pts will almost always see its destruction.
A 240pts Land Raider due to its High toughness might survive if lucky... however... Firepike and some fate dice later... Let me roll it out a bit...

So at far range they can kill a Land Raider or heavily damage it. They might miss and fail to wound. When they are within half range the Melta 3 kicks in and then they WILL kill the Land Raider even with a low amount of wounds.

The same way, you could kill an Imperial Knight worth 400+ points or take a Warhound Titan to below half... when they get that close to one.

However... a 5 man unit of Assault Intercessors in combat are almost impossible for them to hurt. And they will be hurt in return. 10 Blood Claws would wipe them out almost every single charge...

So get them close to the enemy tank, kill it and die in return. I feel that you need to count up the war of attrition with this unit.

The new numbers look great.
That makes 45 Aeldari Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 75% Completed. The total Completed is 24.56% Complete! Can I review them all?!
