As you know, we have been doing a monthly Hive orientation here in Cebu, Philippines! And yesterday October 02, 2021, we had a two-hour session together with @intoy.bugoy's invites (which I also knew from the company I used to work from) and a new addition to our group @jannuslim!
We initially decided to hold the orientation in Workplace Café just as we did in our previous session because of the free use of a projector and free coffee! However, the conference room was booked by other people so we had to move our meet-up at Café Berry in City Times Square.
Café Berry was still an ideal place to hold a mini gathering. The place was neat and spacious with only a few customers around. However, I was a bit disappointed with the lack of internet connection. We were still able to present using my laptop and data connection from @intoy.bugoy.
This was not the first time I've been to this café. I was actually anticipating eating their Bibimbap rice meal however it wasn't available that night. We ended ordering some Kimchi rice meal, Korean noodles, and coffee latte! While waiting for our food and drinks to be ready, we officially started our orientation by 6:00 pm.
We always start with self-introductions to get acquainted with the old, new, and future Hivers! This was followed by showing the Hive Information Video as our entry point to the world of Hive for our guests. @glecerioberto proceeded with providing a detailed discussion about the basics in Hive. @ybanezkim26 also gave some informative key points, terminologies and how upvoting works. I presented how to navigate the @peakd interface and @glecerioberto finished it off with how to write their first blog.
Seems like we always need to wrap things up after two hours since we were informed by one of the café staff that they were closing soon. Overall, this session was short, direct to the point, and interactive. As for our guests, they were able to grasp the whole concept and are looking forward to joining Hive soon.
We will be holding another Hive orientation for those from Cebu (for now) but this time we will be having it virtually! More details to come soon. See you at our next Hive Orientation!

Hello @guruvaj! We shall see first how it goes with our first virtual session. It will be our first so for sure there will be areas that we need to improve.

Nice ang lighting sa Cafe Berry. Too bad waly WiFi. 🙄
I think what made it really fun was @jannuslim's wits and energy! Urgggh. We need him every meet-up.
Ka nindot nga there are more meet-ups like this for Hive Cebu. Looking forward to your next hive meet-up! Hopefully, maka join mi puhon 😊
Hey @tangatraveller! Sure! Perhaps next time!
That's a nice venue! I tried Cafe Berry once for a seminar, the one in Design Center at A.S. Fortuna. They have great coffee and food. Looks like a productive Hive meet up.
Hi @discoveringarni! Cafe Berry really had a good ambiance. Sad to say, they were barely hanging on. Under staff and most of the meals were not available and no wifi. Nonetheless, we always have a productive meetup all the time. Thanks for dropping by!

Hello Mers. Thank you! We are mostly engineers with a passion to write. Having a genuine group that supports each other will help others get motivated. Hive on!
Aw nice.. I have seen your video with the whalesharks in Oslob... Wunderbar! How I wish I could swim like you.. I tried it there when I visited my family, but I panicked when already in the water.. Lololol! I am also a pure Cebuana from Banawa but have been living in the EU since almost 4 decades now.. Looking forward to more of your free dive videos. Cheers!
Wow galing ah, may pa-orientation kayo. That's nice!
