Sorry to hear that. It can be very discouraging for new writers to get early downvotes but I always hope that they will stay and write more. but ..I understand people wanting to leave where they're not wanted also!

Yes. But this was not a newbie... We met on Steemit before transitioning to Hive. It was sad to see him so defeated and it is always scary for my kind to say something as nothing is better than being left alone by downvoting whales!
ive seen many older accounts get tired of the situation and leave .. I don't know your friend's situation so I cant speak with any confidence on it... but I really hate to see people giving up because they think there is no hope.
I wish there was just a blanket solution to it all, but humanity is anything but easy to solve.
and Hive is just a microcosm of the world at large.
sometimes we just need a break and then we come back with a different mindset and new energy.
